"By the end of this year, I want to have purchased all the building supplies, such as iron sheets, building poles, cement, and stones, by consolidating all the money from my monthly transfers. I'll be able to start construction on a bigger, more durable house before the rainy season starts. Knowing that I will have a better place to sleep and that my belongings are safe in the house will make me feel much more at ease."

"I have always loved farming and it has been the main source of livelihood for my family. However, my family farm has been facing some serious financial constraints in recent years, and it all started with a landslide that occurred in 1997. The landslide carried away all the good loam soil and left behind rocky soils. Since then, whenever I plant crops, I don't get the expected yields, and this has affected my income. As a result, I struggle to pay for my children's school fees, and they are often chased away from school during examination periods. This situation is heartbreaking for me as a parent because education is the only way out of poverty for my children. I have tried to supplement my income by taking on odd jobs like constructing houses, but it's not enough. I am determined to find a solution to our financial constraints, and I will do whatever it takes to provide a better future for my children"

"We are faced with a multitude of challenges. We have had a prolonged period of drought that has led to severe water shortage and pasture scarcity, so bad is the situation that wells and river source have dried up. As a result, our livestock have suffered because of lack of water coupled with the depleted pasture. We are forced to buy water at a high price price from vendors, it can get as high as $2 per 20 liter of water. If the situation does not change we foresee a situation where goats will be wiped by the vagaries of drought. The cost of pastures is too high and unaffordable and therefore we are just left to the mercy of fate because we have no means to salvage the situation."

"Life is hard for us, especially with food insecurity. The cost of living has gone up and this has made the situation horrible to put food on the table. It is so unbearable, our children have borne the greatest brunt of it. Sometimes we are forced to go to bed on an empty stomach. It worries us a lot as parents when young children cry for food yet we are unable to provide any. We have had a delayed rainy season that has further worsened the situation and led to the depletion of pastures for our livestock. Some of them have died as a result of it and made us incur losses. Every day is a struggle for us, it is hope against hope as the situation never seems to get any better."

"Climate change has impacted negatively my source of income which is livestock keeping. For the past three years , I have lost ten cows to drought. The lack of rainfall resulted in a decrease in pasture and water for livestock hence a decrease in production and also death. I struggle to raise money to purchase feeds for them and I consider this the biggest challenge."

"My biggest challenge is poverty. The crops we grow need another investment to get better yields. We can not even afford fertilisers to put in our crops. Our income is low yet we have last of needs. As a head of a family,I fail to make a clear budget for my family due to poor income. When it rains, water floods affecting us by Wasing away our crops down the slope,I fear planting because its risky.During the rainy season, water enters our houses making it unfavourable to stay."

"At the moment I'm alone in the family since my husband is deceased and I have to cater for my children alone. I have to pay for my children school fees and also provide all basic needs. It is difficult since I depend on casual works which is not enough for all the needs in my family. In addition to this, I was diagnosed with diabetics which has made it difficult for me to be productive and this has seen my children getting chased from school since I cannot afford their tuition fees. I fell sad most of the time because of the predicaments I face in my life."

"The moment challenge that I'm faced with at the moment is drought and inflation in our nation. For the past two years, we have not been able to plant anything because of prolonged drought which has led to a lack of food. Inflation has also become high which has made buying food very expensive for me and my family. We have been forced to go without food occasionally in the past. Life is very difficult for us."
