"We currently face the problem of flash floods and land slides which has always affected our gardens of food crops and cash crops like coffee and bananas leaving us with food insecurity and poverty in the way that we can not afford paying school fees for our children in good schools hence having poor performance always in class."

Alice
received a $27 tenth payment.
"I am a skillful designer, but I have not yet established my tailoring business shop. I do work from home occasionally, but it doesn't bring in much money for my family. I intend to save my monthly transfers to collect capital for starting a tailoring business shop because I already own two sewing machines. It will help me to experience a boost in my tailoring business that will go a long way in easing my family's financial burden. I aim to sell both designed clothes as well as other ready-made clothes. It will give me a steady source of income."

Salama
received a $27 tenth payment.
"I joined a saving scheme with the mindset of savings my monthly transfer till December. Consequently, I developed a goal to spend my savings on initiating poultry and livestock farming. I have chosen to invest in this since it is the only thing I can do, and it will give me a way to raise money for my daughter's school expenses. Despite the fact that I am a single mother, I would like to give her good support. By the time she will be ready to be enrolled in school, I shall have ways of raising school fees for her. I hope that will help in reducing my burden."

"As a family, we have limited investment options. Because there are not many thriving businesses in our neighborhood, it's vulnerable to this kind of circumstance. Therefore, as I continue to receive my transfer, my main goal is to increase my goat flock. Raising livestock seems more feasible to us, and we hope they will be of better return to my family. Goats grow faster and can help fetch much in case they do not succumb to the periodic drought situations that we have been experiencing in our areas. Since I only have a son who is six months old, this type of investment will go a long way in helping him."

"The main challenge I'm faced with at the moment is the lack of money and drought. Due to prolonged drought, it has been 2 years since we grew crops in our farm and harvested. This has led my family and I to lack food on our table. coupled with the high inflation rates purchasing foodstuff has become expensive and therefore we are forced to go hungry sometimes. In addition to this we also lack money for school fees and my son, Collins who was in form two last year had to drop out of school. I have a son, Brian, who is joining university this year and I don't have money to pay for his tuition."

"We are battling biting food insecurity. The situation has been so bad that my husband has moved to another place called Eldama Ravine to engage in casual jobs to sustain us albeit with meager wages. He felt bad that he was not able to provide for the family. We are forced to survive on just a meal a day, just for survival. We are people of little means. I engage in casual jobs which are erratic and hard to come by. The situation has been further exacerbated by the drought that has brought about devastating effects on our livestock. We travel long distances to look for water and pasture. Our livestock at the moment are so emaciated and I am afraid if it will not rain soon they will be wiped out by the effects of drought. We have lived a life of abject poverty, destitution, and full of misery."
