"When the money came, I was on the verge of being kicked out of my house because I had paid my rent for the past 3 months. I cleared the rent and even paid for the next three months. I also installed electricity in my house because on this side of town, you pay for your own installation, unlike other areas where the landlords do that.I invested the rest of the money on two goats which I am sure will fetch much more in a few years."

"The biggest hardship I've faced in life is lack of sustainable agriculture. This has occurred mainly due to unpredictable climatical changes that have made our land unproductive. Besides, scarce availability of means of land tillage has been another cause. We normally hire oxen and most people in the village depend on the few that are available, this therefore resulting into delayed planting which of course leads to poor harvests. Once I receive the transfer, I will purchase my own oxen and a ploughing tool hence bringing all these struggles to an end."

"My greatest concern is lack of stable income. Over the time my family has survived on casual jobs which in most cases is not sustainable at all. Am unable to pay school fee in time, of which my kids have registered low grades in school due to frustrations of being sent home every now and then. I feel like I've failed them. "

"My work involves cutting trees in the forest and burning them to make charcoal. This is an extremely tiring job and for the past few months I have been praying to find an alternative source of income. Receiving this money means I will be able to start rearing livestock which is a very lucrative business in Bamba location. Over time the livestock will give birth and multiply in number, i will then start selling them in Bamba market thereby earning income from it. With this income I will pay for my children's education and feed my family."

"Depending wholly on my husband to provide for everything for the family is the biggest hardship I have faced.Whenever he is not able to generate adequate resources to buy food, clothes and other basic needs from his hotel business,we are left to go without food and wear torn clothes that rip us off our dignity.I intend to create another source of income from the money am expecting so that we can support each other and get rid of the over dependency."

"I already bought 10 iron sheets for building my house but still need an extra 10 iron sheets. Receiving this money means that I will eventually manage to continue with the construction of my new house. I have been ploughing my farm using a hoe and this usually consume much of my time while preparing a small area of land. The fact that I will get the transfer means that I will be able to buy two cows and a oxen plough which will enable me to prepare my farm faster and cover a bigger portion of land for growing my maize. It will also enable me to save more time that would have been wasted preparing the land and focus more on grazing my cows which provide my family with milk. "

I will open this business in Mlango Kubwa Mathare because I am well known in that area and therefore I am optimistic that I will have many customers and a ready market for my business.
