"My plan in the near future is to build a bigger and better house for my parents and ensure that they live a better life. I also want to improve my farming by leasing more land to farm. I also pray that our family lifestyle will improve from how we are now and that our children will study well."

Joyce
received a $542 initial payment.
"Through this transfer, I was able to build a toilet which I didn't have at first. Having a toilet has really changed my daily life as my family will no longer use the nearby bushes when relieving ourselves like before. Through this, I am assured that whenever there is a cholera outbreak, my family will be spared since our cleanliness has now improved."

Kadzo
received a $542 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have two cows that I am now depending on for milk production. I used to have three cows but all of them perished due to the severe famine that had stricken our land. The livestock lacked water and grass to feed on and they died. This was such a huge loss to me since I also depended on them for milk production in order to help me meet my daily needs. I am so happy today when I see the two cows and when I see my grandchildren go to school and them not being chased away due to lack of school fees.
I see myself now being able to start a business of selling poultry and goats here in our village, this business will enable me meet my daily needs and those of my family. All I can tell GiveDirectly is to send the rest of the transfer as soon as possible so that I can be able to start this poultry business, other than that I am very grateful to Givedirectly."

"Receiving this money means i will be able to adequately provide basic needs such as food and education for my children through investing in livestock trading which is one of the thriving economic activities in Bamba location. I will put my eldest son in charge of the business since he has the necessary skills. I also plan to open a shop within my village to multiply income for my family. "

"The biggest hardship has been financial constraints, with no reliable source of income.
We have had a plan of investing in motorcycle transport business and livestock, but due severe financial constraints this has not been realised. We have been struggling to meet our daily basic needs and pay for our child's education. This has rendered us unable to save for any future investments."
