"I spent most of the third transfer to buy cupboard l now have a place where to keep my utensils safe as compared to before when l was keeping my utensils in a basins where they were not safe because anything could nock them down. I also spent the transfer to buy cow bull, this will save from waiting for other people's cows to work on my which will take too long. The remaining balance l spent to pay school fee arrears after they were sent home and l could not pay the money, being that l do not have any stable source of income."

"Ever since I started receiving money from GiveDirectly, I have been working very hard so as to provide for my family. I have been able to buy solar energy so that I can have electricity at my house. This before was hard to purchase since there is an amount that I have to pay every day so that I can keep the lights on in my house. Today, also I cannot sleep hungry since I have money to buy food for my family. I can afford to eat breakfast, lunch and supper. Before, we would not eat so regularly since I had to depend on the job I had which did not bring in money regularly. Where i come from we do not have shops around us and all we can eat is Ugali and kales, we do not mind such meals but all we value most is being able to get this meal so as to feed our families. I would at times be forced to borrow from friends so as to feed my family but now I am glad since that is not the case and I can depend on myself. I stopped working a long time ago, by then I had already educated my children but unfortunately, they have not been able to find employment, thus they still depend on me to take care of them."

"In the next six months, I would wish to use my transfers to buy a cow. I will use the cow as a remembrance of GD and use it as an investment for my family. I believe when it gives birth, I will be able to sell the milk to raise an income to help me sustain my family needs. I can as well sell its offsprings or the cow to raise money for solving other family financial matters."

"I have been able to meet my ambition of owning a farmland for sugarcane farming. I would have not realized this without the transfer from GiveDirectly. I would be still waking very early in the morning to search for tedious casual labor from another people's farms that eventually would not be if any meaningful rewards."

"I have always desired to have at least one type of livestock in my compound just like any other family in the village. Low income from casual work could not support me to accomplish this dream because of the many demands I have from my family. I know when I have at least one livestock in my compound, my life will change. This is a good investment especially here in the village. In most cases when they give birth, some of them can be sold and the rest keep on increasing in numbers. I believe I will have herds of cattle in my life because of GD."

"I have a lot of hope that in the next six month I expect to have started second-hand shoe business to supplement with my second hand- clothe business. The reason being there is a demand for shoes and also Ig= gather information about how my customers talk when they come to buy clothes. In our area there is no one selling affordable clothes and therefore this motivates me a lot because I know I will have more customers."
