How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Ever since I started receiving money from GiveDirectly, I have been working very hard so as to provide for my family. I have been able to buy solar energy so that I can have electricity at my house. This before was hard to purchase since there is an amount that I have to pay every day so that I can keep the lights on in my house. Today, also I cannot sleep hungry since I have money to buy food for my family. I can afford to eat breakfast, lunch and supper. Before, we would not eat so regularly since I had to depend on the job I had which did not bring in money regularly. Where i come from we do not have shops around us and all we can eat is Ugali and kales, we do not mind such meals but all we value most is being able to get this meal so as to feed our families. I would at times be forced to borrow from friends so as to feed my family but now I am glad since that is not the case and I can depend on myself. I stopped working a long time ago, by then I had already educated my children but unfortunately, they have not been able to find employment, thus they still depend on me to take care of them.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly only does well. If I can even speak on behalf of the people from my village, all i hear is gratitude from their mouths. GiveDirectly has really helped alliveate poverty here in our village and we are so happy, they are God sent. All I can do is to congratulate GiveDirectly for they work they have done and continue to do.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I received my second transfer at around nine in the morning, I stayed for around 2 days without withdrawing the amount as I was waiting for my son so that he could assist me in with withdrawing the transfer. When I had the money I decided to buy an extra goat to add to the previous two I had purchased with the first transfer. The goats will be of much benefit to me since I know I can sell them after they have reproduced and be able to earn some money from them to feed my family. The amount that was left I have resulted to buy a roof and some nails that will come in handy as I start building my two bedroomed houses. I already have a house but it is not in a good shape. It is about to fall and very cold mostly during rainy seasons. In this new house, I will have my own room and my wife and grandchildren can sleep in the other room. I am also setting aside some money so that I can pay the people who will construst my house since I am too old to build one at this time

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
my life is really chnaging, wahat \i have bought what I never had. the hope to catch a sleep again after long nights I have hoping against hope since we need for agric yet we hate due to sleepless.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
felt happy when I was told by child who have was in the forest burning. i had many problems had to stay for three days before calling my son from town to go collect my phone. since the nearby Mpesa points were all crowded and was foreseeing a risk of being ropped.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
It has been a decorative design embraced and repeated by everyone that whenever you receive such a large amount, the first thing to consider in your plan is to purchase at least a livestock. For our case, such a blessing gave us a chance to buy two cows since we had none when we received the transfers. we have been buying milk for so long a time and we now see a near future where we will be selling. we also spent part of the transfers in buying two goats. since we have not been having a good housing structure in our homestead, we decided to purchase woods worth 3200 KES and iron sheets worths 10000 KES in preparation to construct a new, bigger house since our old house was already rusting on the iron sheets and the walls were full of crevices which were not any conducive during rainy seasons.
