"My biggest worry is that I dont have a dairy cow. Everyday, I have to buy milk form a nearby village that is 2 kilometers away so that my daughter can take milk after her meals in the evening. On several occassions, I don't get the milk and my daughter has to sleep without taking milk. This really makes me sad."

"The job that I currently depend on is livestock business. It has been faced with challenges due to insufficient capital and receiving this money means that I will have more capital to invest in it.This will therefore earn me more income that can sustain my family.I will also use part of my transfers to construct a spacious house that can accommodate my family."

"Receiving this money will enable me to repair my house so that the walls will not collapse because of the rains. I will also buy new wheels to my cart that I am using for the water supply business. Once I replace the wheels it shall be more efficient and I believe I will make more money. I know doing this will not take all the cash I will therefore use the second transfer to till our farm that lies fallow always. Once I till this farm, I will be able to harvest maize and most of my profits will go into savings for future plans. "

"Ever since I started a business with the money I received, there has been a lot of peace in my household since I no longer have constant quarrels with my husband over money for food and other household requirements. I now make enough money to purchase most of these items on my own therefore don't have to depend on him. I previously relied on domestic jobs which were unreliable and I would most often come back home empty-handed. On such days, I would wait for my husband to come back home before we could buy any food as we waited for him to provide the money. This mostly angered him and caused the quarrells."

"When I received this transfer fro GD, I was very happy. I thought it was an empty promise as it has always been the case with other NGOs which have worked in our area. Before even using the transfer, I felt my life had already changed. This was one of my happiest moments this year."

"The biggest difference in my life now is that I am able to comfortably pay school fees for my children. They used to be sent home most of the times because I could not afford to pay the arrears in time due to my low income. I have been surviving on casual work which has neither been sufficient nor consistent I have always struggled to settle the balance in time. When I received this transfer, I was able to settle the bigger part of the school arrears so that I reduce the financial burdens. Right now, I feel relieved because my children will not be sent home for the same when school re-opens next year."

"The biggest difference in my life since I received this transfer is that I have my own sheep. Before I got married, my mother used to encourage us that we should always strive to have at least one type of livestock of our own. She used to say out this livestock, we could raise money easily and very fast by selling them to help solve other financial needs within the family without having to beg for help or borrow money. This was a good idea and I have always tried my best to ensure that I have my own. Since I only depended on casual work and the income from the same is too little, I have not been able to afford any type of livestock. When I received this transfer from GD, I first thought of my mother's advice on investing hence I went to buy three sheep. I believe now if I have any urgent financial need, I can sell one of them to raise money to solve the issue. For now, I will keep them and hope they will keep on increasing so that I can sell part of the flock to buy cows."

"I am happier now that my mother is back on her feet because seeing her going through hardship but not being able to help her really broke my heart. The money has also helped me to boost my business and the money I make now is almost twice what I made before. This is good news because I can comfortably take care of my needs, support my family and make lots of savings that I will use to invest more in my business."
