"My father is epileptic which has been a great challenge since i am the firstborn in the family hence i am required to stay home closer to him to monitor his situation and to ensure he is safe. My wife works as a casual labourer working in people's farms and she is the breadwinner of our family. My greatest desire has always been to open my own workshop here at home so that i can work closer to my sick father since i posess skills in capentry but i havent been able to achieve this due to lack of capital. This is the biggest hardship i am facing."

"Two years ago,I was diagnosed with heart disease which denies me a chance to engage in strenous activities which could have earned me more income. I work as an househelp in my neighbour's house, a job that fits me healthwise but at the end of the month, the money i earn (ksh 2000) is barely enough to provide for my family. My husband on the other hand is athritic and is too old to work which means i am the sole breadwinner of the family. This is the biggest hardship i am facing"

"I am a tailor by occupation and the only one in the nearby shopping centre. Towards every school opening day I am overwhelmed by my community's demand for school uniform for their children. The constant hurdle that come with this job is having to shoulder people's debt who take uniform on credit due to their poverty and lack of money. This at often times make me run my business at a loss. This is the biggest hardship I've faced in my life but I believe this situation will change when we all receive money from GiveDirectly. "

"I expect my life to change in the next six months because I will have started my poultry farming. This will improve my life because I will be earning a better income. I know I will earn better because of the high demand my product is in our local market. This will also enable me to complete the hairdressing training that I started recently. Once I get a certificate I will be in a better position to employ myself by starting saloon business. With this I know my living standards will improve, I will rarely take loans. This will ensure that I have a steady growth both financially healthwise and emotionally"

"I do expect my life to change so much in the next six months because my projects will have picked and I will have started enjoying the profits. I have not yet thought of starting another project because I still want to concentrate on the ones that I recently started. Poultry and animals rearing. I am passionate about doing them and I enjoy doing all the duties in this job. I feel that I should give it my best that is why I do not what to start another thing that may interfere with it."

"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that, I will have expanded my poultry farm. I will have added approximately 1000 hens. This simply means my income will increase when I sell them to my customers after they have grown healthier and bigger. Currently, I supply fewer hens to schools and hotels because I didn't have enough money to expand the business. I want to be a reliable person so that I can even get more orders from other people too that and this is why the thought of expanding the farm was the best option for me."
