"The biggest hardship I face is lack of money for educating my children. Iam failing to provide other scholastic materials and fees for my children studying in Amus primary school due to lack of money. This is affecting their academic performance and they may end up getting bad results at the end."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to build another house for my family. My family is growing but the house that I have is just only one bedroom which is not comfortable to share. Some times we have also received visitors but I can not accommodate them because the house is small. "

"Staying with my children at home due to lack of school fees has been the biggest hardship in my life. I am forced to engage in casual labor of vending water at the nearby town in order to cater for their education needs. The income from my activity is at most 1.5 dollars which I spend in feeding my family size of 9 members."

"For a very long time,we have been struggling with unemployment in our household.Currently I do not have any job and my husband's income from vending water in Mombasa is very minimal. In a day he only makes at most ksh.300. This is hardly enough to fend for his needs and ours back at home. With this money, we plan to change our own fate. We will set up a charcoal selling stall in Mombasa that my husband will be managing. Back at home, we will buy at least two cows and five goats that I will be taking care of as our future investment."

"Food insecurity is the biggest hardship that I face.I have no income generating activity and even farming that I used to engage in to balance the scales when money was not there has been greatly affected by lack of rains. We rely solely on what my husband earns for survival.Since he is so far away and I do not even have a phone to communicate with him, at times I am so lost in that him sending us some money is Dependant on me getting it through someone else.I can not even count how many times we have been forced to go to bed hungry due to lack of money to buy food more so when I could not reach him on phone. Seeing my children hungry yet I have no means of buying food for them really hurts me."

"I'm currently running a grocery shop which I started with the GD transfers. I'm glad the business has picked and I have been earning a good profit from it. I'm thinking of venturing into a new business (selling goats) which I have seen doing well in our area. This will enable me to earn more income which will enable me to comfortably meet my household needs. In the next six months, I'm expecting to have started the business and hopefully I'll be earning a good income from it."

"My expectation in the near future is to ensure we are living a more improved life. Once I have bought a water tank, I would want to build a better house for us. The one we currently live is quite small for our growing family and is sometimes uncomfortable. Besides this, it is also quite old. I expect our living standard to improve."
