Joshua
received a $360 second payment.
"The only goal I have now is to continue paying for the motorcycle until I finish the balance. I would not want a scenario where it will be taken away from me because I was not able to pay for it in time."

Maureen
received a $39 eleventh payment.
"Before, I used to do laundry around Eastleigh which was unreliable since most of the low income earner rely on around Nairobi . Therefore, I spent part of my transfer to boost my ice vending business. This is because the business was at the verger of collapsing since the larger part of the capital I had spent on attending to another agent emergency . Having this business means a lot to me since I get a daily income of 300 KES. I have saved the remaining amount since I intend to use the saving to buy a freezer hence I will be able to make ice by myself, at the moment I am buying at a wholesale price in a nearby wholesale shop."

Christine
received a $533 initial payment.
"I believe education is the key to make my children's life better thus I have to persist overwhelming needs to make sure that I pay their fee. I majorly depend on casual jobs and subsistence farming to raise an income to support ever-rising pressing family needs. I had seen myself lucky to have my children in school and colleges but raising their fees had been a big struggle for me with the limited resources I have. When I received GiveDirectly transfers, I was able to pay my children school fees. Currently, I am happy and hopeful since GiveDirectly has given me to achieve my goal. I feel my children's future is brighter than today since they have a humble time to pursue their dreams."

Joseph
received a $533 initial payment.
"My daily life is different from how it was before in that I am now a proud owner of a dairy cow. When it reproduces, my family will be getting milk for their consumption and I will also sell some to earn an income. I will be using this income to pay for my children's education. Also, I have been able to start buying some building materials. My family will soon be living comfortably in a spacious house when I will have finished building it. Also, we as parents will be enjoying our privacy at any time."

Esther

"Although it is sad that I burried my husband after several treatment expenses, the biggest difference in my daily life is seeing that the funeral arrangement went smoothly as well. This is because in my old age, I don't know where I would get money to support me at that trying moment."

John
received a $466 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is having what to do inform of grazing my cow that will in the near future give me milk when it calves. Together with my vulnerable mother, we shall use the milk both commercially and subsistencely. This will raise us money that will be able to cover a few costs and also have a proper balanced diet meals.
In addition to this, I am deligthed that I used this money to purchase my medicine that has helped me for quite some time now with out falling sick because I take it on time. Prior to getting this money, when sickness stricked, I could take like a week or so to get better because I had no money or even means to get money to buy the medicine."
