"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that I have acquire three goats that will soon reproduce. I am certain of security to lean on during any financial crisis. Secondly, I bought a heifer which I know, we are going to save a lot of money from buying milk of our neighbors as we have always done for our household consumption and even get money from selling surplus produced to meet other family need .I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for the support that it offered us."

"Having my own livestock is the greatest achievement I have from GD transfers. I used the money to handle many family and personal needs but what pleases me and makes me happy the most are the goats and cows I bought with these transfers. First, I am able to plough for others at a cost with my own bulls and ox plough which means I do not need to share any income from ploughing with anyone. Before the transfers, I did not have an ox plough and had to partner with a friend. Secondly, when the goats will reproduce, I will have a number which is a very good source of investment. Whenever I have any financial difficulty, I can sell some to raise money. I feel I am on the right track to making my life better."

"My life is now different because I have my own semi-permanent house. I was married for over 20 yrs I have been sleeping under small huts which were temporary with some grass-thatched roofing. All through the roof has been leaking and was always giving me some sleepless nights. Secondly, I had to change the grass roofing yearly, this was costly according to my financial status. I am happy because my family and I are now sleeping under a permanent spacious iron-roofed house. I no longer worry about the heavy downpours or even the wild animals that were sometimes attacking us. If it were not for GiveDirectly coming to my village I don't think if I would have achieved all this."

"All the savings we had was spent on my husband illness after being admitted at Makadara hospital and the bill was at 2000000 KES. I was supported my relatives and friend after conducting a fundraiser but their was a few bills let. I didn't not know who I would manage all this medical bills because at the same time four of my children were sent out of school due to school fees arrears . I felt like the world was rolling back to me since with little income I earn from casual jobs could make the situation any better. Today seeing my children go to school after settling part of the arrears and my husband being discharged from hospital although I do take him for check up is my life's difference that had it not bee for GiveDirectly I could have lost if at a personal level Thanks GiveDirectly."

"I have a small shop which I selling clothes and African materials ( vitenge ) the business was struggling because of inadequate stock. I stocked the business and now I make more sales since more clients who come don't turn away because of lack of their preferred items from the shop. Today , I am able to provide for my family with ease out of the doubled profits I make from the business. Secondly, I have build a decent iron sheet shelter that accommodates my family comfortably. The shelter we lived in before was old and weak with its roof dilapidated. As of now, I feel happy living in a decent place with no worries about any weather change. Truly, had it not been for the financial support which I received from GiveDirectly I wouldn't afford this changes that makes my entire life happy and better placed."

"My life is currently different because of the land that I expanded using the money I received. I bought a piece of land that is now farmland. I just harvested maize that we use as food in my household. I have just planted beans that are doing well. Without this, I would not have space to produce enough food household.I, therefore, do not spend so much on buying foodstuffs because I produce more on the farm that GiveDirecl t helped me to buy."
