"Currently, the challenge I am facing is lack of money. Money is very vital in sorting all the necessary needs as they arise. This week, my 3 children were denied access to their school due to school fee arrears amounting to 3,000 KES. It is not because I do not earn any income, the income I get is very little. I currently involve myself in farming, mainly cassava production. Once I sell the cassava, I approximately earn 5,000 KES per month. With a family of 5 children, this amount is never sufficient. Most of it goes into buying food and essential bills such as medical bills."

"I have seen the goodness of GD only. GD is an independent organisation and I have seen that the enrollment process is not influenced by chiefs and any other people in authority. This on the other hand, is very good because the program reaches to real deserving recipients. Issues of corruption and nepotism are delt with."

"She used her second cash transfer to buy land for farming purposes..She also bought 20 iron sheets which will be used when building her new house. She then saved some of the money so that it can be used in purchasing fertilizer during the next rainy season.. The other saved money will be used to pay labourers who will be working in her farm and for purchasing little things at home like salt and soap."

"I am so grateful for being considered in this program. I have been desiring to start livestock production and the transfer gave me a chance to start livestock production. I bought two goats. I also bought beddings for my family such as blackects. I have been struggling with hunger in the past. I bought 10 bags of maize and now I am food secured. I also built a brick fence at the back of my house. I saved part of the money so that I can be buying my day to day needs."

"Poor health of my family has been the biggest hardship that I have ever faced in my life. I am the only child in my family and the breadwinner for the extended family. Two days ago I lost my father who was diagnosed of breathing complications for the last seven years. My mother also has chest complications and also her legs sometimes swell and cannot walk. My wife too has stomach problems. Since I am the only child, the responsibility of taking care of my parents and my family are solely on me. I have been using the little income I get as a primary teacher to help my parents and my wife get medical attention but this has never been possible. This made me lose my father. I also have a family of seven children who are in universities and others in primary and secondary schools. All of them look up on me to provide for them. This has made life more difficult for me and my family. Upon receiving this money, it will be a relief for me as I will be able to pay fees for my children and the income I get, will be used for other basic needs."

"The biggest hardship i have faced in my life is lack of enough food. I am an old woman and i find food on my own which is very hard. I barely have money to buy other basic needs such as soap or sugar. I usually don't eat breakfast because i dont have enough food. Having breakfast is more like wasting food for me"

"Receiving this money means building my own house. For over two years I have been borrowing shelter to sleep after my house collapsed. I have a family of nine children and all of them also borrow shelter from other relatives in the compound. It is shameful at my age with all those children and still cannot afford a house for them. However, I am not able to build one because I depend on charcoal burning business which earns me less than 2000 KES a month. I have six children who are in school and need to eat and pay school fees. All the money I get is spent on these basic needs and I remain with nothing to save and build a house. Upon receiving this money, I will be able to build a one bedroom house that will cost 20000KES. I will then use the remaining amount to pay school fees and buy ten goats that I will sell in future when they multiply."

"My plan for this money is solely business. My children are the one helping me with food and money. Sometimes things can be very difficult for them, when that happens i have to find my food."
