How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I live a happy life nowadays than before. My life has greatly changed for the better. I have managed to improve my house such that I bought paint and painted my house. I did have a proper toilet and I used part of the money to build a toilet and pay the builders. I have also started livestock production. I am confident that my goats will multiply and I wil be able to sell them in the near future. Another great change is in terms of food intake. My family is able to have three meals on a daily basis.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD is really doing great in promoting rural communities. To be honest, I could not have managed to do all things I have done without the transfer. I thank GD because it covers a large mass of recipients. The amount of money received is also more as compared to other NGOs. I also had a chance to buy a phone and the phone was very cheap as compared to the prices available in town. I was also given a free sim card.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am so grateful for being considered in this program. I have been desiring to start livestock production and the transfer gave me a chance to start livestock production. I bought two goats. I also bought beddings for my family such as blackects. I have been struggling with hunger in the past. I bought 10 bags of maize and now I am food secured. I also built a brick fence at the back of my house. I saved part of the money so that I can be buying my day to day needs.
