"Receiving this money means having a decent house, my house is in a very bad state, it is also grass thatched. Every year we change the roof, right now am worried because this year i do not have enough grass for the roof. As if that is not enough I smear the floor with black mud every week which is tiresome and water is also scarce. With the transfers that I will receive I will renovate my house and buy iron sheets for roofing. Thank you Givedirectly for the opportunity."

"All my life my biggest worry has been shelter,i have been trying to raise a few kwacha's just to start building a house but to no avail, the coming in of this programme has served me because i have managed to start up with the house project, with my first transfer i have bought house building materials such as ironsheet, bags of cement, nails and Timba used for roofing the house. Apart from the house project i spent part of the transfer to buy 2 bags of maize since food is also important, apparently I'm waiting for my second transfer so that i should start with the foundation and everything."

"I spent KES 38,000 to support my 5 children's education since they had huge fee arrears. My elder son had completed secondary school but he failed to obtain his results due to the huge fee arrears of KES 30,000. After receiving the transfer, I paid the fee balance for the elder son and pay KES 8000 for my 4 other children who are still in primary schools. I also purchase a bed and mattress for KES 10,800 this is because I was using a traditional bed that had broken legs and it was not comfortable to use. The remaining amount assisted me in purchasing enough food for the family."
