"My husband and I finished our college education some few years ago. Up to date, we have not gotten any reliable employment opportunities. We depend on contractual jobs like teaching to sustain ourselves. The schools being in remote settings, payment is little and so we have to struggle to fend for our young family. Our hope is to one day have an avenue of getting a regular source of income."

"Food security is the main challenge that I and my family is facing currently. I have two young children and that means they have to get nutritious food like milk and eggs to grow healthy. I depend on casual jobs like weeding in other people's farms to earn a living. On a good day, I can make KES 200 in a day, and because these jobs are not guaranteed sometimes I come home empty-handed. This forces me to go to my neighbors for assistance. I have had to sleep hungry on several occasions due to lack of enough food to share with my children."

"One of the challenges I face in my life is lack of money to pay for my children's high school fees. I have 3 children who are in secondary level each requiring KES 20,000 per year. They are always sent back home for fees since raising their fees is an uphill task for me. What I get from my onion selling business,KES 300 per day, that I started recently has never been enough to cater for my household needs which school fees is among them. My hope is to one day see them stop being sent home for school fees. This will give them enough time to concentrate on their studies."

"Receiving this money means our long-time dream as a family will be fulfilled. My husband is passionate about welding. He works for someone else but we were wishing if we could get money to start our own business so that we maximize the income. He earns 300 per day. This money can only sustain our household needs. We depend on maize as our stable food but its harvesting season is not yet so we have to buy from the market and vendors around. I delivered a baby boy one week ago so I depend on my husband for all our needs. To start the business we need a capital of KES 60,000. This business will generate income to meet our household needs like food and help us in paying school fees for our children."
