"Little income compared to my needs is the biggest challenge that I am currently facing. I am a business lady selling second-hand clothes. I earn an average of KES 500 daily and this amount cannot fully support all my needs. This is because I am the only breadwinner of our family of 8. I am currently paying school fees for my brother who is in secondary school and have been struggling a lot."

"The challenge I am currently facing is a lack of enough money. I have a land plot that I am yet to develop. Due to lack of money, the plot has been lying idle for over a year. For all that long, I have been having an ambition of building a rental house but due to inadequate funds, this dream is yet to pass."

"Receiving this money means better accommodation for my family of 5 children. Am in a polygamous marriage as the first wife and my husband left me to stay with the second wife. I will build a semi-permanent two-roomed house that will be able to bring comfort to my children. I plan to buy a plot 50 by 100 which goes by KES 10,000 and build rental houses which can bring revenue at the end of the month. With the remaining amount, I have two bulls in my compound I will buy a plough which I will fix and use to cultivate my land. Neighbors can also rent and use it to plow their lands at KES 2500 per one hectare."

"I live in a small single room house that serves as a kitchen and living room during the day and our bedroom at night. Because of this, we have no privacy as a family as we are forced to assemble our beddings in one corner of the house during the day. It had always been my dream to build a more spacious one before getting more children and the responsibility of paying their school fees weighs me down. Being able to purchase the necessary building materials makes my life different since I know that with my growing family, I will be having some privacy and my children will also have their own room when they grow up."

"The biggest difference since the payments started is that firstly I am now able to provide enough food for my family as I managed to purchase a few food stuff meaning that we are able to eat all 3 meals in a day.. The other difference is that my husband is getting new contracts to build houses for many people in the village as he have sufficient tools required for his work..The flow of income is even great and better, I feel everyone is happy in my family. Also, our life is better now with the bicycle that we have as it is helping in easing our transportation problems especially when going to the market or hospital as this were the 2 places that have been worrying me a lot."

"Receiving this money means opening a kiosk in my village. In this area, shops are 5km away something that have created a business opportunity. With a capital of 50000KES, I will be able to open the kiosk which am very sure will have created an employment for me and a source of income for my household. My wife has very perfect skills in making donuts, so in that kiosk we will use that as a way of attracting customers and increase the income."

"Financial instability is the biggest hardship I am currently experiencing. This is because of the kind of job I am engaged in. I work as a casual laborer and the job is not guaranteed. On a good day, I make 700 KES which is not enough to sustain all our needs such as school fees. This has hindered me from clearing fee arrears."

"I separated from my husband 15 years ago and came back to my parents with my 2 children. According to our culture, once you are married you can no longer stay in your parent's house. This made me construct a small structure that looks like a kiosk because my financial position could not allow building a bigger one. Receiving this money means fulfilling my longing of having a spacious and decent house. I am planning to spend 70,000 KES of the transfer to construct a semi-permanent house so that I can live comfortably. In addition, I will invest the remaining part of the transfer in livestock which will be a source of income."
