Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my first cash transfer I felt so happy and so excited to the extent that I failed to hold the water bucket properly that I was carrying on my head since I was coming back from the borehole. All my life I have never received such a huge amount of money so it was a big relief that the money will really help in changing my life.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference since the payments started is that firstly I am now able to provide enough food for my family as I managed to purchase a few food stuff meaning that we are able to eat all 3 meals in a day.. The other difference is that my husband is getting new contracts to build houses for many people in the village as he have sufficient tools required for his work..The flow of income is even great and better, I feel everyone is happy in my family. Also, our life is better now with the bicycle that we have as it is helping in easing our transportation problems especially when going to the market or hospital as this were the 2 places that have been worrying me a lot.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my first cash transfer to procure a few tools used by a builder since my husband is a builder..Some of the tools that have been purchased include tape measure, level, ruler and electrical tester. panels Part of the transfer was used to procure solar panels since for so long I have been desiring a house with lights. I also bought a phone, a bicycle and a radio, a laptop bag which is used to carry the tools when my husband is going to work..The main purpose of the bicycle is for my husband to be using when travelling to further areas during work. In addition to that, I managed to buy some blankets and a mattress so that I can have a comfortable place to sleep..I aslo bought a few Food Lastly, I bought a few bags of maize and I am planning on building a new house soon after the rainy season so in preparation for that I bought bricks.
