"My life as a young man has been with so many struggles right from the time I turned 18 some 7 years ago. I dropped out of school at grade 6 because partially my parents never valued education instead they valued livestock more so I was made to stay at home with them and take care of the livestock. They also believe that education is a liability because they will sell all their property to pay school fees and after completing, I might still fail to secure employment. When things fell apart with education, I went to live away from home for 4 years doing casual jobs in the town I was living in, and luckily I managed to save KES.50,000 at the end of the 4 years. This money enabled me to purchase the land am currently living in and the peace of mind I have had since then is tremendous. I would like to be a full-time farmer now going forward so that I can be producing food for my consumption and some for sale. This will also enable me to get married and pay dowry easily."

"The main challenge is financial constraints. The chicken business my husband runs is not doing well because of a lack of enough capital. Most of the time he misses going to work because he does not have money to purchase the stock. The money he makes is approximately KES 800 per month, which is too little to even cover household needs like food. Most of the days we just survive on what we have, not what we want or need."

"We have water shortage in this area mainly contributed by prolonged drought. The water source is at a distance of 15minutes walk. I struggle to walk as my knee joint aches after strolling for a short distance. There is piped water running within my compound but I have not been able to trap due to lack of money. It is with great pleasure that upon receiving this cash, I will stand a chance to install a water tap. I will spend 20 000 KES on this matter. Selling water will as well help me economically."

"I do not have a reliable source of income. This has made me go without food for several times. I ventured into a small business but the profit realized, approximately 50 KES a day is not able to make my ends meet. The scarcity of cash has made it not possible to finish the construction of my house making it hard to sleep during cold nights due to lack of window shutters."

"I would like to diversify the source of income for my family by venturing into agriculture. Unfortunately, agriculture has proven unfruitful since harsh climatic conditions and tropical diseases are destroying crops in our area. This hurts me because I am not maximizing my potential on matters about farming."

"I am a single parent with 4 sons and a daughter. My kids have grownup in a difficulty situation through my straneous work of charcoal burning and working at the quarry. I separated with my wife 11 years ago because of povert. We expirienced many domestic chaos and finally my wife was married to another man in the nearby village, living me with a burden of responsibility both in the household level plus looking for means to feed the children. This matter made my first son who is now 20 years old to drop his primary education to care for his brothers and sister. I am currently 67 years and I can't do the straneous work anymore because my body is weak. I have left all of my responsibilities in the hands of my elder son. My daughter is in form 2 in her secondary school education and I have a fee balance of KES 22,000. Receiving my first transfer will shade light to the education of my daughter and also act as the only source of food security in my house. I will use the second transfer to purchase goats as a source of wealthy for my family , buy beddings for my children and also pay school fees for my daughter."
