Esther
received a $467 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I have been in position to acquire an ox that is going to ease my farming. Furthermore, I have bought iron sheets and cement that I am going to use for constructing an iron roofed house. Previously, I didn't have enough money to purchase building materials and a cow much as I needed."

"When I receive this money, I will buy cows that I will use as dowry. Currently I am staying alone because I seperated with my ex-wife so I need another good woman who will be helping me with home chores. I also repair electronics as side business. So I will use part of the money to buy equipments necessary for that job so that it becomes my main source of income."

"Receiving this money means buying a cow that will act as an Income generating activity for me. When it multiplies, I will sell some to help solve family problems. I will buy beddings because the ones I have now are old hence they are worn out."

"Receiving this money means that I will plaster my house that I'm living in. The floor is not good and rats will start digging holes in the floor if it is not plastered. The balance of the money will be used to purchase a cow that will produce milk for home consumption."

Jectone
received a $249 second payment.
"If it wasn't for GiveDirectly, I wouldn't have achieved most of my dreams. I didn't have a reliable source of income thus I couldn't afford most of the things that I had always wanted to have. I'm glad through their transfers I was able to purchase a cow. I am planning to keep it and make sure it grows healthy and reproduces. With this cow I know I will never be poor again. This is how different my life currently is from the way it was four months ago."

Joshua
received a $22 fourteenth payment.
"Four months ago, I mostly depended on GD transfers for my household needs because I had no source of income. The cow that my wife and I saved to buy through the help of GD transfers gave birth a few months ago and we can now make extra money by selling some of the milk. We can, therefore, manage to provide for our own needs without having to solely depend on the transfers and have better meals generally."

"My usual day begins as early as 6.00 am in the morning whereby i start by milking my three Fresian cows after which i prepare breakfast for my family then head to the shopping center to sell the milk. I then head back home to do the household chores then go to the garden to weed and transpant my crops till late in the evening when i head back home to rest. I am always happy during the day since its the time i keep myself busy to keep off thoughts that may bring me loneliness and bitterness of being childless."
