"Receiving this money means access to basic education for my children. I have a family of six children. Five in primary school and one in secondary school. Raising these children has been very difficult. I usually depend on charcoal burning business which earns me less than KES 1000 a month. This money is not sufficient to meet the basic needs of my family. Besides my husband is old and also dependent to his three wives to get food. I intend to use the first cash transfer to clear school fees balances for my children and other educational costs like uniform and books. I will then use the second cash transfer to buy goats as a store of wealth for my children."

"Receiving this money means a better living standard for my family. I have been depending on casual jobs where I earn around 200 KES per day. The amount is not enough to sustain my family. When I receive the transfer, my plan is to purchase a Dairy cow Worth KES 35,000, With the cow am sure I'll get around 10 litter's of milk a day which translates to KES 500 daily hence improving our living standard. I will also buy 10 Goats worth KES 4000 each so that I can sell them in future. This will earn me income so as not to depend in casual jobs only. The remaining amount will go for foodstuffs and clothing's."

"Receiving this money means a decent life and self reliance for me. I have a bed but I have been sleeping on it without a mattress for a year now. I am planning to use KES 5,000 to purchase a mattress. I am also planning to expand my single room house to a double room house. The single room I live in is too congested. I will need iron sheets, tree poles and labor. The total cost for the expansion will be approximately KES 15,000. When the new room is complete, I will use it as my bedroom and the old one as my store. I am also planning to use KES 20,000 to buy 5 goats. In our community, goats are a source of wealth. Once the goats increase in number, I will be selling them at a reasonable profit. Also, for the past two years, I have had a dream of becoming a shopkeeper. I am also planning to use KES 20,000 to start a small business of selling foodstuffs to my neighbors. I am sure the profit I will be earning from the shop and the goats will sustain me. All these projects will accomplish my goal of being self reliant. For a longer period, I have been depending on my husband to provide for me. For the remaining money, I will save it for any emergency."

"Receiving this money means a decent life and good education for my last born. For the past 5 years, I have been sleeping on a bed without a mattress. This has made me experience body aches every morning I wake up. I am planning to use KES 10,000 to purchase a new bed and a mattress. I am sure the problem of having body aches every morning will be gone. I also struggle to cater for my family's needs. I stay with my son who is the last born. He is in primary school ( class 6). My main occupation is charcoal burning. I get approximately KES 5,000 per month. This amount is not enough to sort out all of our needs which includes the School fees for my son. I am planning to use KES 20,000 to buy 5 goats. For me, the goats will be my source of income in the coming years. I will start selling goat milk and even the goats when they multiply. I am a 46 year old widow who is no longer strong enough for the charcoal burning business,I will save the rest of the money and use it sparingly for my family's needs and that of my son's education."

"Receiving this money means self employment, decent housing and good education for my children. The weather condition in this area is unfavorable for crop production, I am planning to start a livestock production enterprise. I will use a total of KES 30,000 to purchase 9 female goats and one male goat. I believe these goats will make my dream of self employment come true, I will be the one in charge of the whole project. With time, the goats will multiply and increase in number. I will start selling the goats to butcheries in Bamba town. I will use the income I will be getting to sort my family's needs and the education for my children. KES 40,000 will go into the construction of a new bigger house for my family. The house I currently live in is in a poor condition and very small. Sleeping with my four children in the same room makes me very uncomfortable. I will then use the remaining amount to pay school fees for my children and save the rest of the money."

"Receiving this money means good education to my 3 children. I came back from my matrimonial home after separating from my husband 4 years ago. He was the breadwinner to our family and since then life has not been easy. I plan to practice livestock keeping. I will spend KES 70,000 to purchase 20 ingenious goats. This is going to be a source of income for my family of 4 members because will sell them at a profit price in the future and educate my children who are in the lower classes. Other than that, I will invest the remaining amount to start a food kiosk business which will also add income to our family and enable me to meet our basic needs such as school fees."

"Investing in livestock has always been my desire. This is because it is the only way I can save my money to earn a profit when I sell them after they multiply. Therefore I intend to start with 15 goats that will cost me KES 45000 of my first transfer. The remaining amount of the first transfer will cater to food expenses and other household needs. I will further spend KES 40000 of my second transfer to buy 2 indegious dairy cows for milk production for consumption and sell the surplus to earn income. With the remaining amount, I will buy a new bed and mattress to replace the old ones which do not give me a nice sleep, and hence, this will guarantee me a better living."
