Sang
received a $489 second payment.
"My life is different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer. This is because I no longer live in my old dilapidated house whose roof was always leaking during the rainy season. This has been possible since I was able to use part of my transfer to build a more spacious iron-roofed house for my family. Also, security in my homestead has been enhanced as I now have electricity at my disposal hence my compound is well illuminated throughout the night."

Kangombe
received a $506 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am residing in a decent and comfortable shelter with my family. Previously I was spending sleepless night due to the leaking roof of my house. In addition, I was worried that the house might fall anytime which was risky to our lives."

"Finishing my house and improving the roof with ironsheet and the walls with cement is what receiving this money means to, i would like the house to stand for more years to come so that my children should not suffer when iam gone and if possible some money remains i would like to buy beddings because where i and my family sleep is not a health place to spend the whole night"

Agness
received a $372 second payment.
"Life would have been very different had I not received the transfers. I would not have managed to find money to buy iron sheets to put a roof on my house which I built in 2018. All these years, farming has been my source of income but at the end of each farming season I do not have any benefit. Most of the traders buy our produces at a maximum of k7000 which is not enough for me to sell part of my little harvest so that I buy iron sheets. Being part of the beneficiaries meant that I will be able to fulfil of sleeping in an iron sheets roofed house. Receiving the transfers has transformed my life as I now have enough food at home for my family of 5 people. All in all, life would have been very different had I not received the transfers. My family would have been very poor and I would have continued sleeping in a glass thatched house. May God bless you."

Rosemary
received a $372 second payment.
"Before I received transfers from Give Directly, I was living in a small house with a grass thatched roof. Since receiving the transfer, I am building a much bigger, nicer house. I am less stressed out and overall a much happier person. Give Directly has brought me peace of mind."

Bendera
received a $490 second payment.
"My life different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that I was able to start goats rearing activity which is my longterm investment for the family. Back in the days, I was depending on charcoal vending a job that is tiresome and low-paying. Furthermore, I was able to clear the fees arrears for my children and acquire enough food. Lastly, I was able to complete the construction of my house by purchasing the roofing materials and paying labour charges for the putting up of a roof of the house which I had fail to complete due to lack of adequate finances."
