Salima
received a $427 second payment.
"Currently, my main goal is to start a charcoal-burning business and I will be using my motorcycle to supply charcoal to my customers. With this, I am optimistic about making good profits that will enable me to support my family. This is because I will be in a position to meet my customers' demands on time and aside from reaching many people within a day, I will be able to supply even to those who live far from where I will be operating the business from."

"I was working with the ministry of health for 5 year until I was pention in 2020.After my pention thing got really bad on my family because I was the only one financially stable at that time. I started engaging into farming but it was easy for me to cultivate large portion of farm to produce crops to sustain our selves. I used Givedirectly money to buy a motorcycle for my son to do transport business. With the help of this transport business and the profit we will be able to educate and support our family."

Kadzo
received a $28 sixteenth payment.
"My casual hustles of splitting firewood and working on people's farms for money hardly afford enough food for the family, which leaves us starving most of the time. As we speak, we are hungry as we have not had anything to eat since yesterday. More so, I have no idea where am going to get money for food. That is why when I receive cash transfers, my priority is food. I directed $14 and $5 from last month's and this month's transfers toward food. Also, there was a school fees debt for my two children that were carried from last year, and I used $10 to settle it. Next, I spent $10 on my treatment after I was involved in a motorcycle accident that injured my arm. Am glad that I have started recovering. I used $10 from December’s transfer as the final payment for my new bed that I had longed to own for a long time. Lastly, I saved $20 from both cash transfers. Am hoping for these savings to help me during emergencies. "

Regina
received a $240 third payment.
"I am a mother of five(5). Three(3)girls and two(2)boys including my husband. My husband work as a daily contractor just to provide our daily meal and we are currently residing in my father-in-law house. We got enrolled into Givedirectly unconditional cash transfer program and started receiving transfer.
My husband and I decided to engage into business and build a house on our own. Our first and second transfer was deposited as partial payment toward a brand new motorcycle which the recent transfer was used to complete the payment and we got one bundle of zinc with the balance portion of the recent transfer. My husband is presently running commercial bike to help with the family needs as well as purchase additional building materials as we await our final transfer which will be use for similar purpose."

Julius
received a $427 second payment.
"The house that I leave with my family is very small and not strong enough so it can be blown away by strong winds. My plan this year was to plant vegetables and maize, sell them so that I can get enough money to build my family a bigger and better comfortable house. Accomplishing this means that my family will have somewhere proud to call home."

Saumu
received a $442 initial payment.
"A while back, I started a project to raise goats, but owing to financial limitations, I was unable to raise a sufficient number of goats. We are fortunate to have one child; my husband is a teacher and I am a farmer. After getting my transfer, I decided to spend $140 on four additional goats to supplement my existing herd. Second, I spent $80 repairing my motorcycle, which I then used to pay $90 for a bed and a mattress. Finally, I spent the remaining money on food and clothing. I am thankful for being able to do so much in such a short amount of time."

Joseph
received a $443 initial payment.
"I separated my ex-wife a few months before GiveDirectly came to our village, leaving me single while I enrolled in the program. At the time, I decided to remarry, but first I had to raise a portion of the dowry, despite the fact that I did not have a stable job. GiveDirectly's support was greatly appreciated because it covered the first $300 required by my in-laws. I am currently married and grateful for the ability to share ideas with my spouse as we make joint decisions. I used the rest of the money to buy new clothes for my in-laws' parents' introduction ceremony, as well as food for the invited guests and family members in attendance. Even though I still owe $700, I am grateful for GiveDirectly's support and hope to accomplish much with the second transfer."
