How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goal is to have a house of my own and establish a big business in front of my house. With such accomplishment, I will have a total relieve of suffering and help support with my children education and other family needs. This means to freedom which I will for ever remain grateful to the family of Givedirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
To earn our own bike today is through Givedirectly. To be independent and have the mindset of business is Givedirectly. Givedirectly does not discriminate and is one of the best organizations we have ever seen. We pray for more support from Givedirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am a mother of five(5). Three(3)girls and two(2)boys including my husband. My husband work as a daily contractor just to provide our daily meal and we are currently residing in my father-in-law house. We got enrolled into Givedirectly unconditional cash transfer program and started receiving transfer. My husband and I decided to engage into business and build a house on our own. Our first and second transfer was deposited as partial payment toward a brand new motorcycle which the recent transfer was used to complete the payment and we got one bundle of zinc with the balance portion of the recent transfer. My husband is presently running commercial bike to help with the family needs as well as purchase additional building materials as we await our final transfer which will be use for similar purpose.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
As a family, we barely have sufficient food or clothing, as such, we are forced to live in a single room in my spouse's family house. Living in a single room as a family is a very embarrassing situation and also makes us feel uncomfortable. With this condition, if I am qualified to get the cash transfer, I will use 50% of the transfer to build a spacious house of my own for me, and my household. I will also use the balance of 50% to start a business that will allow me to provide for my family's needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
With the condition of my family being out of cash; I was worried about having any complications at the time of childbirth. Back on May 10, 2022, I successfully give birth to my baby without any complications. This brought me so much joy and happiness.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My spouse is currently out of job, and with this, my family barely has sufficient food or clothing. My children are currently not in school because my spouse is jobless. My children also didn't wear new clothes for the recent independence day celebration. The lack of cash has caused all of the above challenges for me and my family.
