I usually wakes up in the morning prepare my family their breakfast, milk the cattle and then start feeding them. I collect water and feeds and moving them from one paddock to another. I always find myself working in the farm the entire part of my day. My happiest time of the day is in the evening when am done with my daily duties hence have sometime to relax before getting to the kitchen to prepare supper for my family."

Paul
received a $537 initial payment.
"To me, receiving this transfer was like a spring of water that suddenly emerged in a desert! Initially I had no lighting in my household but now with the solar panel I bought, all is well as I can comfortably charge my phone and read without any challenges. This has also created an opportunity for me to earn some income by charging my neighbor's phones at small fee."

"Receiving this money will enable me to repair my house so that the walls will not collapse because of the rains. I will also buy new wheels to my cart that I am using for the water supply business. Once I replace the wheels it shall be more efficient and I believe I will make more money. I know doing this will not take all the cash I will therefore use the second transfer to till our farm that lies fallow always. Once I till this farm, I will be able to harvest maize and most of my profits will go into savings for future plans. "

"Indeed God is always fairhful to me and my family. I have been struggling in vain to build an iron-sheet roofed house so that I could collect rain water for drinking and other household uses as my neighbors do. Luckily, receiving this money means that the dream will materialize, and thus we shall have adequate rainwater and gain a higher living standard."

Isaack
received a $536 initial payment.
"Initially, I could purchase most of my farm produce on credit and my expenses on purchasing water were high and alarming to the extent of competing with the revenue generated at the end of the farming season but that I going to change once I purchase the generator. The water supply will be efficient and cost-effective in return the produce from the farm will increase resulting in a bumper harvest and increased profit margins."

David
received a $536 initial payment.
"My children have been sleeping in the kitchen and I was not been comfortable with this because I was always worried about their security. When I received my transfers, I decided to spend part of it to expand my house by building a bedroom for them. I also spent part of my transfer to buy a water tank to use in storing water, especially during the rainy season. My wife have always been traveling for a long distance looking for water daily even during the rainy season as we did not have a water tank to use in storing water. I also used part of my transfers to buy my children some decent clothes since they have always been requesting me to buy them some. This will make them comfortable mingling with their friends especially when we go to church.
My children have also been using a paraffin lamb during their studies in the evening. The lights produced by this lamp is dim and they have always complained that they struggle to see the writings in their books. Therefore, I decided to buy a solar panel and a battery so that they can be comfortable when studying."

"I have always wanted to be a watermelon farmer but it has not been easy for me to do so due to the heavy investment it requires including a water source. These transfers come at a better time because I will be able to buy seeds and prepare land for the watermelons. At the same time I will invest on water tanks for water harvesting which I will use in irrigating the farm. This business will provide me with profits that I can use in paying school fees for my children. "

"The biggest hardship I have faced is food insecurity for my family following heavy rains which swept away my farms last year.We have no cereals in the stores and this forces us to sleep hungry because even the water vending business run by my husband in Mombasa can not generate enough money to enable us buy adequate food. This year,we are already starring at drought and this makes us fearful that the situation may worsen in future."
