Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
For a long time, I thought that I could not own any cow in my life. This was only made possible through the GiveDirectly support and now I have my own, which I am expecting them to increase in number over some years. To me, this is the biggest difference in my life for it comes along with the pride and respect one is being given in our community if he/she has one.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was going on with my daily chores when suddenly I got a message notification. On checking to know the sender, it was a message from GiveDirectly indicating that I had received the first transfer I had anxiously been waiting for. At that instant, I became very happy because of the money I received and I am grateful to GiveDirectly for the financial support.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
We had saved some money with my husband so as to acquire a tuk-tuk as an investment to us so that through it we could create a source of income for our livelihood and supporting our family's basic necessities by offering taxi services in our nearby city. When I received my first transfer from GiveDirectly, I used part of it to top up the amount we had saved and we purchased the tuk-tuk. My husband does the job of being the taxi driver and so far we are earning well daily from it. In addition to buying the tuk-tuk, I also purchased two cows that I will be rearing and I am expecting that they will reproduce and increase in number in the future. I will also be able to sell them in the future in case of financial problems like school fees for educating my children who are still young. To me, both the tuk-tuk and the cows are all important assets that have improved my living standard and I appreciate GiveDirectly for the financial support.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
For a long period of time, my husband has been struggling with getting jobs to sustain our family needs. As a motorcycle rider, his income is not enough to sustain buying food, catering for medical expenses and even providing decent bedding for our family. Now that we will be getting this transfer, my husband will be able to buy his own motorcycle which he will be riding closer to home thus enhancing our source of income and even making him to be closer to his family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The afternoon is the happiest part of my day because it is the only time that I manage to get a break from my daily chores to relax and share stories with my neighbors and children . In the morning, I am mostly out in the farm while in the evening, I leave to go fetch water and firewood for the night and the next day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Ever since I got married, my husband and I have been faced with the struggle of getting sufficient source of income to afford decent shelter and food. As a motorcycle rider in a town whereby there are so many others doing the same business, getting sufficient income to deliver to the owner and even remain with enough to provide for us as a family is becoming increasingly difficult with each passing day, initially when it used to rain, I could plough our farm and harvest enough to sustain the family in as far as food is concerned but now that we are faced with recurrent droughts, the situation of getting money daily to buy food for my family is very strenuous.
