"I live far from the water source. My wife and children find it challenging fetching water because it is tedious. With the first transfer, I will buy a water tank of approximately 15 dollars and set my roof well so that I can harvest water. The second transfer will be used to add one cow to the existing herd to boost on milk production and also buy 2 goats as an asset"

"It has been my desire to own two dairy cows that will assist me to have milk in my family and able to sell the remaining to the market which will cater for other pressing needs in the house like food and school fees.. I will use 40 dollars to buy 2 dairy cows, and use the rest to purchase a storage tank for water since with my health status I am not able to carry water from the nearby river."

I also bought pipes and connected clean tap water ,currently I no longer walk for that long distance like before to get the water. The rest of the money I bought a heifer, This will enable me to cut the daily cost of buying milk. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has changed my living standard."

"My life is different that it would have been if I never received the transfer in that I am now owning a decent house for myself. I will no longer had to walk for a long distance in order to borrow shelter from my neighbour. Likewise, I have my privacy something that I have lost for many years. In addition, I was able to start livestock rearing after spending $400 of the first transfer to purchase two cows. Furthermore, I am fetching more water using an oxen cart than earlier when I was carrying them on my head. This was tiresome considering that I was getting them from a long distance."

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying a bycycle at KES 5000. This will specifically help me majorly in carrying water. Also, I bought a dairy cow for a total of KES 15000. In addition, I bought a piece of land worthy of KES 18000. The previous one was no longer productive and there was a prolonged drought in my region, and I thought of an alternative permanent solution. With the remaining amount, I bought enough foodstuffs for my family."

"I spend the better part of my day at home doing most of the household chores like fetching water and cooking. Also sometimes, I do farm work. In the evening I get relaxed in my bed. This is the time when I feel re-energized for the next day's activities and hence, the happiest part of my day."

"My day is occupied mostly with the household chores like fetching water, cooking, and collecting firewood. I do all these activities in the morning and afternoon hours. In the evening, I find myself relaxed and get in my bed after taking my dinner. This is the time when I get happier because of the ample time to rest. Hence, the evening becomes the happiest part of my day."

"I used to buy milk daily for my children, when I had no money they would just take water, it broke my heart but because of the financial constraint, we didn't have a choice but to accept life as it is. when I received my transfer the first thing that struck my mind was to buy a dairy cow for myself so that my children would enjoy a cup of tea daily, I then bought a goat for me to start rearing them. I am so grateful to the GiveDirectly Organisation."

"It brings joy to me and my family. Since its going to improve our lives. I have one thatched house. I can't even harvest water when it rains. Here in our village we collect water from the river and its far from where i reside. However, there is tapped water but I cannot afford.so getting this money will help me build a iron roofed house."

"Receiving this money means a reduced worry level on where to get school fees for my son, who recently completed his high school studies and is looking forward to joining one of the universities this year. I have been wondering where to get $500 for his first semester. My spouse was planning on scheduling a date for fundraising on the same, but I thank Give Directly for coming in handy. I also intend to build a better kitchen for my family using $300 of my transfer, since the old one we currently operate in is in a deplorable condition; it leaks in water during rainy seasons. I will then use the remaining $200 to clear school fees for my other 3 children in primary school."
