How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now than it would have been if I never received the transfer, in that I can save up money that I used to use in buying milk daily, we now have enough milk for our consumption, this is going to improve the health of my children, In addition to that, I also started a goat reading business which is a long term and sustainable project. I am so grateful that the organisation gr me an opportunity to better my life.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does its work well, in that they, first of all, sensitized the community, gave room for the member to ask questions, they also addressed all the questions professionally. so far I don't see anything that is done wrong but instead, I am thankful for the support that improved the lives of the needy.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am a casual labourer in the village and a farmer. when I received the second transfer I bought a dairy cow worth KES 30,000, I used to buy milk daily for our daily consumption which was too expensive because 1litre of milk sells at KES 40 I don't have a stable source of income, therefore, buying milk daily is costly, but all this is in the past now thanks to GiveDirectly that lifted my life to a greater level, I am happy because I also started a goat rearing project which I am hopeful that I will be able to earn an income out of it shortly. I am grateful for the support that bettered my life.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was at home relaxing when I received my first transfer when I saw the message alert on my phone, that was when I believed that indeed GiveDirectly sent the promised transfer, I am thankful to God for the beautiful gift that he brought to us.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own a dairy cow and a goat, I am optimistic that in future I will be able to get a surplus amount of milk from them and with that, I will be able to sustain our livelihood with that. Our lives will never be the same again, am now herding my cow which never crossed my mind before.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used to buy milk daily for my children, when I had no money they would just take water, it broke my heart but because of the financial constraint, we didn't have a choice but to accept life as it is. when I received my transfer the first thing that struck my mind was to buy a dairy cow for myself so that my children would enjoy a cup of tea daily, I then bought a goat for me to start rearing them. I am so grateful to the GiveDirectly Organisation.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been buying milk for the past 6 years now given that I don't have a dairy cow. I usually spend approximately KES 900 every month. I have to go and look for casual labor such as weeding in a nearby farm so that I can get 300 shillings. Thus amount is not enough to buy basic needs for my family. Receiving this money therefore is a big boost towards achieving my dream of owning a dairy cow.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. This is because I feel energized to go and look for work so that I can provide basic needs for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of finances is my biggest worry at the moment. I have 2 children and they have just started their education. In order for me to provide for their basic needs, my husband and I have to work extra hard so that we can save the little money we get from casual labor.
