"I spent part of my second transfer on buying a solar panel at KES 2500. Initially, I was using candles which were costly and sometimes I used to stay in the dark since I could not afford to buy them. This has been affecting my children's academic performance because they could not study at night whenever they have school assignments. It is now a relief to them and I strongly believe that their performance shall improve. Also, I bought five plastic chairs for a total of KES 2500. I am now happy and thankful because for all that time, I have been borrowing from friends anytime I have visitors and I could always feel embarrassed. Thereafter, I paid fees of KES 3000 for my four children who are in primary schools. I am glad that they will finally be able to sit for their exams. Later on, I bought two goats at KES 6000 and I am optimistic that I will have many of them within a short period. They will be of support especially in paying fees for my children. With the remaining amount of money, I bought food for my four family members which lasted us almost a month."

"I have been married for sometime now and according to our customs,my husband is supposed to pay dowry to my family. Due to financial constraints,he was not able to. We decided to settle that using these second transfers so that we would fulfill our cultural obligations. I then started construction of our marital home as the previous house was badly dilapilated. With the rest of the amount,I ventured into animal farming and so I bought four goats to rear which I will resell in future for a profit."

"For 2 years, I have desired to boost my goat rearing but I lacked the finances to accomplish it. I invested KES 15,000 of the recent transfer by purchasing 5 goats. This is a good venture since they reproduce faster than cattle and are very profitable. I am planning to sell them once they reproduce to cater for any financial emergency that I might encounter in the future. Additionally, I used KES 10,000 to pay part of the fees for my son who is in form 4 and about to complete his secondary education in December. Moreover, I used KES 10,000 to clear the rental charges for him and that of my husband. With the remaining amount, I bought enough food for the family of 7 members since we are currently experiencing famine and the high cost of foodstuff due to inflation."

"Among the seven members of my family is my elderly mother, who has been under our care because of his age and her sickly condition. With her in our household, my two sons had to be displaced from their room, which is currently occupied by their grandmother. Every time they are out of school, my sons seek a bed space in the neighborhood which is hardly comfortable for them. With the first budget I had with the first transfer, I could not construct a new house but, I am grateful that the second transfer was timely to put up a new spacious house for them. I spent KES 15000 on buying 16 iron sheets and other construction materials and KES 3000 to pay the labor force for the construction process. To collect the rainwater from the roof, I also bought a plastic tank at KES 2500 that has made it easier for my sons to fetch and use clean water during rainy periods. I also bought a Pedigree alpines goat at KES 8000 that will potentially provide my children with high proteins per serving milk compared to the standard cow's milk. To provide for all my mother's needs at her age, including the frequent hospital visits, I saved the remaining amount, and I am glad she has never missed her doctor's appointment."

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying iron sheets which cost almost KES 25000, and the labour charges of KES 6000 respectively. This was purposefully for the completion of my rental house which was under construction in the nearby town centre. This will be the main long-term investment that I will readily be relying on in case of any financial difficulties. I also opted for this type of project majorly for my children's education journey since for now they are still in junior schools. Also, I bought a new traditional bed, two mats and bedsheets. I now feel relieved because I have been sleeping on the floor for years and I have regularly been complaining of back pains and attacks from harmful insects which resulted in skin diseases. I am now healthier and joyful about this transformation. To add to that I started a new business( hotel) and a grocery in the neighbouring village. I am so happy that I am now earning a living unlike before whereby my spouse and I have been jobless. Also bought five goats at KES 15000 which now serve as the assets to readily depend on at any time considering they reproduce and mature very fast. With the remaining cash, I had to buy food and other household items."

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying a bed and a mattress at KES 8000. I felt its high time I needed to upgrade from the traditional beddings which are made of ropes. I have been encountering sleepless nights because of the condition of the bed. As a result, I was always in and out of the hospital, I am thankful that for now there is a great relief. I no longer complain about the pains or all sorts of difficulties. To add to that, I bought a dairy cow at KES 16000 and two goats at KES 6200 respectively. I had to resolve these types of livestock because with the dairy cow, I am certain that it will start reproducing milk in a few months to come whereby I will be supplying it to the nearby dairy cows and earning a living. Also, the goats, normally reproduce twice a year which is evident that I will have many of them within a short duration. I will therefore be able to sell one or two and sort any kind of emergency that might arise. Again, I bought new uniforms and stationery for my four kids who are in primary school. With the remaining cash, I opted to buy foodstuff for my seven family members which took us almost three weeks."

"Recieving this money will help me to buy goats. I would buy three goats to add to the two goats i already have. The goats would cost me $90 because each goat is sold at $30each. I choose goats because they are easier to care of because they withstand intense weather conditions."

"My next move would be for me to start up a goat-rearing project. I believe that this is easy to manage since there is a forest nearby. I am optimistic that with hard work and determination I would realise this goal from my business profits."

"Investing in livestock has been my desire for a while. Besides buying a cow using the first transfer, I used KES 16800.00 of the second transfer to buy four goats. Luckily, all four goats are almost procreating. I opted to invest more in goats because they are cheaper compared to cows and they have ready markets. Being a parent to six children, four of them are in primary school. On that note, I opted to pay KES 8980.00 which catered for the school fee balances and extra three months up to October so that my children can concentrate on their studies. Thereafter, I bought three mattresses for my children because they used to sleep on sacks. The cost of the mattresses was KES 11000.00. I also tackled the unplanned activity of taking my mother to the hospital after falling sick. The sickness took KES 7000.00 although it is unfortunate that I lost her. For the remaining amount of money, I reserved it for the family's expenses."

"I plan on prioritizing these funds on achieving food security. I would do this by buying 4 bags of fertilizer for my 2 acres maize field. From this I believe I would be able to have a good harvest of maize enough to last me a year. Additionally, receiving this money would mean that I would be able to finally buy myself livestock, thus, goats and pigs. I plan on rearing these and let them reproduce and multiply so that I am able to sell some of them at a profit in future to be able to sustainably afford fertilizer on my own even if this program is gone elsewhere."
