"Receiving this money means good health for my husband and my well being. My husband fell sick 3 moths ago. He had stomach related complications. He went to the hospital. The problem was resolved but it left him so weak. My husband can no longer walk without support. He also has to buy medicine on a monthly basis for his condition to improve. Buying these medicines requires money. My husband has no any source of income. I am planning to use the money I will be getting to support him. I will use the money to contribute to his medical bills. I want to see my husband back to his normal life. Once my husband's condition stabilizes, I will have a sigh of relief. I will now be free to use the transfers on myself and well being of my family. I am not employed and I have nothing that can earn me an income. At the age of 45 years, I do not expect anyone to employ me. I will use the rest of the transfers to buy domestic necessities. I will buy foodstuffs, clothes and support my children where necessary."

"Receiving this money means seeking medical attention for my health. For over three years my spouse and I have been sick. I suffer prolonged headache that sometimes I faint. My husband also suffering from urinal track infections for eight years now. We have not been able to go for check up because of lack of money. We depend on charcoal burning business that earns us less than 400KES a week. This money is not enough to meet our medical costs. We sold our livestock and bought herbal medicines but up to now, we still suffer from these diseases. I intend to use the first cash transfer to seek medical attention for me and my spouse that will cost us 50000KES. I will then use the second cash transfer to start Poultry farming to get an income for our basic needs."

"My plan for this cash transfer is to use part of the money to go hospital. I have been face with a sickness that is not getting better.I have this rassen on my breast , which started months ago.I have been using other country medicine for cure because I dont have much money to go to hospital. I will also start a business that will yeild more capitol. Presently the business I have is very small. I invested little money into a table market business that will feed my family. With the cash transfer, I can start a bigger market and use portion of the money to go back to school because am a high school drop out. Since the death of my father, I have been a self supporter, which make things very difficulty for me."

"The biggest hardship that I have ever faced in my life is poor health. For a long time close to ten years, I have been suffering from a chronic disease that has never been diagnosed. I just display asmatic signs and ulcers. I also suffer from breathing complications. I have gone for check up and a lot of X-rays but nothing has been discovered. This has robbed me all the savings that my husband and I had. The main economic activity that we rely on is charcoal burning which is not reliable and earns us less than 1000 KES a week. All the money is used to buy food and some for medicine just to treat the symptoms. This has affected the education of my last born son who finished secondary school but due to the huge debt, his certificates were withheld. I intend to use the cash transfer to clear the debt of 60000KES for my son. I will then use the remaining amount to seek for medication."

"My desire has been to restart daily farming which I had been doing sometimes back but I lacked the finances to accomplish it. Initially, I owned a dairy cow but it was infected with a chronic disease, My effort to treat it was in vain and it succumbed to death. After receiving the transfer, I spent KES 15000 to purchase a local dairy cow, this is a future investment for my family. My long term goal is to educate my kids with the male offsprings of the cattle once they grow up. In addition, I support my spouse's mechanic business by purchasing more working tools for KES 5000. This is because he had less tools in his kit at the garage, sometimes he would came stressed up because of the poor working conditions. I also bought proper beddings for my 3 children they were using a small, worn-out mattress which was not enough for them. Furthermore, I spent 15,000 to seek proper medical care for myself since I am suffering from heart, liver, and kidney problems. I was able to go for screening and purchased the medicine need for my treatment. Currently, I am recovering well and I thank the organization for the support.."

"For over 15 years, I have been suffering from a backbone problem, I had visited several hospitals but I did not receive the proper medication to my illness. I had been given a referral for further treatment at a level 5 hospital in Mombasa town but I lacked the finances for transport and payment for the medical bills. I was relying on my children for assistance but the lacked money too since they do not have reliable source of livelihood. After receiving my transfer, I spent KES 25,000 to seek proper treatment by undergoing several X-rays, screening and purchasing medicine. With part of the remaining amount I bought sufficient food while I was stay in the hospital . I am also planning to save the other part of the transfer to cater for any health emergency that might arise in the future."

"Struggling with this disease that has partially paralyzed my body, my happiest part of the day is at night. This is so because this is the time I take my traditional medicine to ease pain and gradually heal. Once the discomfort is gone, I can soundly sleep all through the night."
