"I spent a bigger portion of the first transfer on buying a wood plane machine for my husband who owns a carpentry workshop. This will boost his business and serve his clients efficiently. I am also running a poultry project from which I normally keep and sell chicken as a source of income. Thus I also took a portion of the money and purchased the indigenous chicken to add to this project. I saved the rest of the money for my children who are currently not in school due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I am planning to pay for their school fees when they resume their studies."

"Receiving this money will help us as a family improve our home by expanding it. The current house that we are staying in is so small especially our bedroom. Our children are all grown and the expanded room shall be used as their bedroom as we have our privacy as the parents. I also intend to use the remaining amount to improve my poultry keeping project by adding more chicken. The idea to improve my poultry keeping project was informed by the fact that we may have surge in needs for our family going forward especially payment of school fees."

"I spent 390 Dollars of my transfer on a dairy cow in order to reduce milk purchasing costs in the next two months. I spent 150 Dollars on three packets maize seeds because it's a planting season and before I could only afford one packet and sometimes plant local seeds. 40 USD was spent on maize seeds rice and now my family is well fed. I have also bought quality mattress and two blankets because the one I had was a tiny one and I used to exprerience alot of backpain. I also spent 9USD on two chicken layers as a source of food and income. 65 USD was spent on purchase of better clothing and shoes."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own some livestock which includes a dirty cow, goats, and chicken. I chose to purchase them since they will make me wealthier within a short period of time. With the dairy cow, I will be getting milk for free whereby I will be using some litres for my family consumption and sell the remaining litres to my neighbours and local markets. Also with the goats, I am sure that when I later sell the offsprings I will be able to achieve most of my goals. This makes me ambitious and hopeful in life because I will no longer strain in meeting my family's needs as before."

"The money from GiveDirectly has helped me a lot. I bought food for my family that I believe will last them for a while. I bought two bags of maize, thirty tins of beans, ten kilograms of rice, and twenty-five kilograms of sugar. The money also enabled us to achieve our dream of expanding our poultry farming business. We have bought treated fencing poles, iron sheets, and frames that we are using in building a bigger poultry house that will accommodate more than five hundred poultry chickens. We also managed to buy a few clothes for ourselves and that for our children. We had other plans such as starting a dairy farm but we decided to settle on expanding our poultry farming business because it is easy to manage and it is affordable. My wife too has a lot of time to take care of them since she lost her job of teaching in a private school when Coronavirus started in our country. We wanted a bigger and warmer house for our poultry especially the chicks but we were not in a position to construct it before because of a lack of enough money to do so. So when the lump sum transfer came in, we decided to embark on the plan of expanding it. Thank you GiveDirectly for making this possible."

"The money from GiveDirectly has helped me in various ways. I was able to buy a cow and two goats with part of the money. I was also able to buy a chair, a woofer, and a bag of maize that will serve as food for my family. I plan to use part of the remaining money to buy a few chickens for rearing and the rest of the money on food. I have always wanted to have a cow of my own but due to lack of enough money, I have not been able to buy one. The little money that I have been getting, I have been using it to buy food and milk for everyday consumption. I have tried my best to save up bits of money to buy the cow, but it has been hard due to everyday needs. Thank you GiveDirectly for making this happen."

"This transfer from GiveDirectly has helped me a lot. I was able to buy a cow, two goats, and three chickens that I want to rear. I was also able to buy half a bag of maize with part of the transfer. With the little amount that I still have, I plan to use it on buying small things such as buying vegetables and some foodstuffs for everyday use. The reason why I decided to buy maize, is because I did not have food to eat. I am living alone because my wife passed on and I have grown old. I no longer have the strength to till the whole of my land and hence I only till a small portion where I grow some few crops. I had another cow and a few goats but I wanted to add some more so that they can help me in the future when they reproduce."
