In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by uplifting people from poverty through the cash transfer and I do not see anything that they do not do well.

I spent KES 26,000 from my transfer to buy a heifer. I decided on this so that I will have an alternative source of income when in calves. Also, I spent around KES 11,000 to fence my farm. I bought barbed wire, poles and catered for labor. This was my priority so that my crops will always be secured from livestock. In addition to these, I spent around KES 5000 on farming. I hired a tractor for land and planting purposes, bought some hybrid seeds and also paid the person who helped me in weeding. Using the remaining amount, I bought some food and clothes for my children.

I received the GD transfers at around seven in the morning while cooking tea.I was excited and relayed the news to my family and we were overwhelmed with joy until we lost appetite for breakfast because we hadn't received such a lump sum before.

I am very happy because I have bought a heifer which is now seven months pregnant cow. I am optimistic that in the next two months I will be milking my own cow instead of buying milk from neighbors as I usually do. I have also planted maize which will a source for my family come next year. I have also bought a mattress and my daughter's and now we sleep comfortable.Before, I used to sleep on children school left over mattresses and used to get a lot of backaches because they were tiny. Since I slept on new mattress there are no more backpains and I am strong enough to work on my farm. I am very grateful because I have grown fatter and neater until my grand kids cannot identify me anymore.

I spent 390 Dollars of my transfer on a dairy cow in order to reduce milk purchasing costs in the next two months. I spent 150 Dollars on three packets maize seeds because it's a planting season and before I could only afford one packet and sometimes plant local seeds. 40 USD was spent on maize seeds rice and now my family is well fed. I have also bought quality mattress and two blankets because the one I had was a tiny one and I used to exprerience alot of backpain. I also spent 9USD on two chicken layers as a source of food and income. 65 USD was spent on purchase of better clothing and shoes.
