"My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me. I do small scale farming and the harvest that we get is only for consumption. I did not had surplus. I do casual jobs in the village and sometimes to get this jobs is so hard. The amount of money that I get through this is so small and only for school fees and other household items. I had no savings to buy a dairy cow. Currently I have a dairy cow and I get enough milk for my family unlike before. I sell the extra milk at the market to earn an income to meet other basic household needs including paying school fees for my children. I hope to improve this dairy farming to another level. I have devoted much of my time on my farm, I no longer do casual jobs. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard."

"My life is way too different at the moment than it would have been if I had never received the transfer. The great investment in livestock has always given me hope of prospering even more and more soon. I had been able to raise school fees at ease for my daughter which is not a usual occurrence not only in my household but also in the entire family. I am grateful to be part of this great project, and it is my prayer that other people who are still expecting the support may also receive their fair share so that we can move on together."

"It was early in the morning at exactly 9:17 am when I received a notification of the transfer that had just landed in my account. I was at my daughter's closing ceremony in her new school when I got this news and I was so excited knowing that the hope of starting a new life, venturing into a long-term investment, and clearing school fees for my daughter was finally with me. I blessed the Lord and waited for the function to come to an end since I was so eager to catch up with my daughter, even though she is still young and could not quite understand the feeling I had then."

"The biggest difference in my daily life after receiving the first transfer is the investment in livestock. Buying four sheep at once is such a great leap in my life as they will soon be reproducing, and their multiplication will lead to the development of future great projects including payment of school fees for our kids."

"I spent $200 to purchase building materials for the construction of a decent two-roomed irony roofed house for my family. I have desired to own a modern shelter like others in the village because the one I had previously was a grass thatched and requires constant maintenance which is relatively costly. Furthermore, I used $50 to support my children's educational need by paying part of the school fees. They were constantly staying at home due to fee issues. In addition, I spent $75 to boost my goat's rearing by purchasing two more goats. The remaining amount assisted me in acquiring household utensils and purchase enough food for the family."

"The biggest difference is that I used to walk a long distance daily, this was so hard for me but I had to endure all this because I had children in secondary school, I also needed to provide for their daily upkeep back home. The transfer came as a relief because it changed my life big-time, with that I was able to clear school fees arrears, I then started a small business of selling milk around the village, and with this, I will be able to watch over my children. The greatest milestone that I achieved was that I managed to build a kitchen house, meaning that I would now have enough space in the living room. I am grateful for the support that has enabled us to change our lives positively, I have been empowered greatly."

"Recieving this money means I will do a renovation in my house and take my son to college to pursue his education. I am a mother of 9 children and in a polygamy family whereby our husband has to play his roles in both sides of the house, this makes him to strain alot. I am also a house wife and we totally depend on farming which again the weather conditions are not favourable in our area thus low produce in the farms I plan to use KES 50,000 to pay for school fees, KES 50,000 to renovate my house and spend the remaining in buying atleast one dairy cow which will help us in milk production."

"Recieving this money means it will boost me in paying for the accumulated school fees to my children and buy three dairy cows. I have been living a single mother of five children after I lost my husband through a road accident in 19 years ago, since then I decided to buy a tailoring machine and started a small business in a nearby town. I plan to spend KES 60,000 to pay for school fees and spend the remaining in purchasing 3 dairy cows that will produce milk for my children and sell the surplus to the market for other needs in the house."

"As you can see how my house is, I can tell you that I am not comfortable. The grass that I used needs to be replaced because it leaks when there is rain. Last week, I sought new grass to replace the old ones and that meant I had to part with KES 1500 for transportation. I want change and since you have told me about these transfers, I will use KES 60,000 shillings to build a small iron roofed house to ease this stress. I will also use KES 30,000 to buy a cow because I do not own one and I spend KES 1200 a month to buy a litre of milk which is very costly. With the remaining amount, I will use it on my household needs like food, buy clothes for my children and pay some amount on school fees."

"Receiving this money means improved living standards for my household. I plan to achieve this by spending Ksh.30,000 to build a two-roomed house. I will also spend Ksh 28,000 to buy two indigenous cows and an ox plough. This will help me to farm my shamba as well as hire to my neighbors and earn a living . The remaining amount will help me to cater for food and paying school fees for my children."
