Mercy
received a $462 second payment.
"I used to work as a vegetable vendor but closed the business before I gave birth seven months ago. Because of this, my spouse has been the only person vending for our family. It is my wish to revive this business once my child turns a year old so that I can use the profits to pay for our basic needs while he works towards clearing the motorcycle payments so that we can start other projects."

"After the receipt of the transfer and the great work everyone did in our village, everybody talks good about GiveDirectly. In my opinion, all the expectations that were set during the initial sensitization stages were met. In addition, the transfers were timely, came directly to our accounts, and everyone received a call from the office to confirm the receipt just a week after every transfer. I have nothing to complain about but wish GiveDirectly the best as they continue changing lives in other villages."

received a $462 second payment.
"I am a father of two and when I received these transfers, I had great plans for my family. With the first transfer, I was able to buy a dairy cow and built a new house for my family. With the second transfer, I had plans of investing in farming and opening up a small business for my wife, However, when the mmoney came my wife insisted that she was going to make all the plans on how the money was going to be spent. I geve her KES 51000 from the second transfer only for her to flee our home leaving me with our two children. My new goal however is still on course and it is to be able to advance ny farming practices to ensure that we have maximum productivity from it. This will also supplement the income that I get from my motorcycle business that sometimes gives us very little or no income at all considering that the motorcycle is not mine."

"For 5 years now I have been engaging in the small-scale milk business. I collect 40 liters of milk from various households and sell them to the nearby cooling plant for a profit. I am now happy that this money will enable me to expand the business by additional 50 liters of milk daily. Being elderly I am unable to carry the cans of milk on my back as I used to before. Therefore with this money, I will be able to purchase a second-hand motorcycle to enable me to transport the milk to the cooling plant."

"Receiving this money means that my children shall be able to progress with their studies without any interruption. I have two sons who just cleared their primary school education and they passed their national exam well. In the next 4 weeks am required to pay KES. 100,000 to cater for their shopping and school fees. We planned to have one of them repeat Grade 8 as we do a fundraiser for the other one because we only have KES. 15,000 at the moment. My husband is a motorcycle taxi operator and that's what we depend on to provide us everything. He earns KES.300 daily which mostly goes to buying food items. We are so happy and as a family, we would like to express our gratitude to GiveDirectly for bringing a solution amid hopelessness."

"Currently I am really struggling to provide food for my young family. Fuel shortage has brought negative impact to my day to day life. For the last two days I have stayed home due to lack of fuel meaning for the said period my family survived in kind. I am optimistic and glad that fuel shortage will come to an end soon as said by the Government of Kenya."
