Kitsao
received a $401 initial payment.
"I am able to have a good house, unlike the one that I had, thanks to GiveDirectly transfers. Buying food was difficult as well since I was unable to have three meals each day, so I would sacrifice either lunch or supper to have for the next day. I was able to send money to my family, something I was unable to do because of financial constraints. At this moment, I can become a broker for the goat and chicken businesses, where I will be buying them from the village and selling them at the market. This would not have been possible without the assistance of GiveDirectly."

Janet
received a $387 second payment.
"I was able to acquire two items through the cash transfer: a tailoring machine and a piece of land onto on which I intend to construct a home of my own together with a number rental units. GiveDirectly has enabled me to think more strategically on business, and I believe that everyone who has benefited is feeling the same way I am. I am thankful that things had to happen this way so that I may be where I am and determine where I would like to go. Thank you GiveDirectly."

Kahunda
received a $387 second payment.
"I have always wanted to have water at my doorstep, and this is something I'm looking forward to attaining. We decided to set aside a certain amount of money every day for the purpose of buying the water pipes and ensuring that this goal is fulfilled. This means that I will no longer buy water and will redirect the money we spent on water every day to something else because we will just be paying a monthly fee. I also want to finish the pit latrine so that I can protect myself and my family's health. To add to that, there are times when you really need to use a toilet, but there is someone else inside which will force you to go to the nearby bush, which annoys me."

Felister
received a $387 second payment.
"Personally, I believe GiveDirectly performed a good job of sending cash transfers that each beneficiary may do according to his or her priorities. Many things have been accomplished in our community as a result of the transfers that would not have been possible if the assistance had not come in the form of financial transfers, and we are thankful to GiveDirectly for enabling us to do the things we have long desired. The procedure went smoothly, and there is nothing I can suggest to help it go more smoothly; we were all happy and grateful to be among those who benefited."

"The chaallenge I am facing is too much coldness cause from Water falling from the upper sides of the hill here in Kibanga and soil falling that keeps falling whenever it rains.
It's so cold inside the house that my daughter was diagnosed with Pneumonia some time back.
So we still live in fear because we live in a risky part of the village."

Sidi
received a $25 tenth payment.
"I have been operating a small shop in the village which has been my major source of income. With my son having being retrenched at work, this has been our only source of income. We would depend on it for household needs and school fees. Since then the shop business has not been doing well. and mostly affected by inadequate stock. I'm planning to restock the shop and continue farming which I believe will go well. Since with a bumper harvest we will not experience food shortage in my household. If all goes well, spending on food will be a thing of the past. I am also planning to buy more goats in the near future."
