"I believe I will have to finally retire from engaging in most of the casual jobs that I usually undertake within the village because the money I get from the organization will be enough to sustain me coupled with the profits generated from our business of selling second hand clothes. If at all the electrification process lives to see the light then I will have very little stress in getting full light illumination in my house during the night hours."

"Financial instability is my biggest hardship. I am not able to respond to medical emergencies for my family. I almost lost my wife in April this year when she was suffering from malaria and typhoid, because I had no money to take her to hospital. When the situation got worse I took her to a village private hospital, but I could not raise the bill of 2000 shillings and I had to use my national identity card as a collateral since she was treated on credit. Besides this, my children are often sent back home from school because I cannot raise the 3000 shillings to cater for educational costs. I am also unable to provide enough food and clothing for my family."

"I have a tailoring shop at Mariango shopping center but it is not doing so well due to less equipment and stock. With this transfer I will purchase another sewing machine, more fabrics and an iron box to facilitate my work. With this in place, I will employ another tailor since I am projecting an improvement in the business. I will also purchase dairy cows to constantly supply milk in my village since there is no one doing it. These businesses will generate a stable income that will cater for my family needs in terms of food, clothing and medical care. I will also save extra cash to purchase a motorcycle for my husband in future because he is currently employed by a neighbour."

"My husband is a tuktuk driver in Mombasa and earns an average income of 500 shillings a day. This amount is not enough to sustain us in terms of food because he is the sole bread winner. In most cases we are forced to go without food due to lack of money to purchase from the shop. Therefore, I consider financial constraint as my biggest hardship."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in life is lack of financial capital to turn my ideas into business opportunities. For so many years,I have been harbouring ideas on dairy farming, poultry farming and maize farming under irrigation. My main aim for these ideas has been to be self employed and create a source of income that can sustain the needs of my family.Lack of capital to implement the ideas has therefore been my biggest worry even as I face persistent financial constraints that hinders me from being self employed and adequately providing for the basic needs of the family."

"The biggest hardship I am facing in life is lack of reliable source of income. As a motorcycle rider, I find it very difficult to raise money to feed my family. During rainy season, the roads are muddy and few people prefer using motorcycle as a means of transport. Sometimes I spend a whole day without a single customer and this means no money to buy food and other basic needs."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of food.
I do not have my own oxen to open up fields in time and
as a result, I always get low harvest because of delayed cultivation. "

"The biggest hardship I face in life is financial constraints since my family has spent all my financial resources in seeking for medication of my daughter. She has been bedridden for the past three years. Her sickness has made me to forget joy and happiness. However, I still believe that with God all things will be well."
