"I will spend my transfers to go to school and complete my University education. I performed well in my high school education and I got selected to partake a business course at the University of Nairobi. I have been unable to realise my dreams because I lacked school fees to proceed with school. I will use my transfers to go to school to realise my dream of attaining a Bachelor's degree in Business Commerce from the University of Nairobi. Secondly, I will spend my transfers to start a transport business in the boda boda sector. I will purchase a motorbike and offer employment to a deserving youth who can operate my bike when I am in school. Finally, I will spend my transfers to assist my siblings who are in primary school. I will assist them with school fees and their daily needs such as meals."

"I will spend my transfers to expand my Charcoal business. I sell Charcoal in Mathare 4A, just outside where my grandmother lives. I will expand this business by adding more stock to my business. Secondly, I will spend my transfers to assist my grandmother and my younger brother who is yet to join college. I will assist my brother with some school fees, and my grandmother with her daily needs such as meals. Finally, I will save the remaining of my transfers."

"My biggest worry is that I don't have a reliable source of income. I depend solely on Quarrying from a nearby site to fend for my family. This job is intense, under-paying and very hard and as such one cannot do it frequently. As a result, I don't normally get regular income, meaning I have to settle for the less that I get with my family. This forces us to skip some meals so as to live within our budget constraints. This has been our regular norm for an extended period of time."

"I used to be involved in charcoal burning and I spent most of my time in the forest for more than 3 months away from my family. This made me to lose touch with my family and I have not been there for them to provide the father-figure role. Receiving the transfer will enable me to move closer to them as I will buy a brick-making machine at a cost of Ksh. 6000 and open up the business at our local centre Mariango. This will enable me to supply the community with bricks for house construction at a fee and also be able to build a better house for my family. "

"I stay next to Shaka secondary school and I intend to spend part of my transfer on operation of a small canteen in the school compound. I find this as a good business venture as I will be able to prepare tea for the teachers and the students hence making a living out of it. The profit earned from the business will enable me to take care of my family's needs like food and school fees. "

received a $537 initial payment.
"I was very happy as I could not believe this was true. When I was told I would receive money from GD, I knew they were making fun of me and I despised it. I never knew someone could give such amount of money without having to work for it or pay later. Honestly, GD has taken me to a higher step I never knew I could reach."

"I plan to make major transformations on my house that is currently made of mud. So the plan is to buy a few bags of cement and sand that i will use to plaster both the interior and the exterior part of the house to make it more durable than it can last right now."
