"Lack of sustainable source of income has been the biggest hardship I've faced in my life. It all started when my parents passed away a while ago. My siblings and I were forced to drop out of school due to lack of money. We resorted to casual jobs, and the little income we could earn were only enough to buy us a single meal a day. Had I gotten basic education, my story could be different now, something I don't want my kids to go through in their lives. With Give Directly coming our way, it is a sign of relief and hope knowing that that my dream for better life is just a month away."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received transfers from GiveDirectly in that, I spent part of the transfers on cementing my house. I had begun building that house before GiveDirectly came to our area but had not completed it due to inadequate funds. I also bought a solar panel which is the main source of lighting and my sons no longer struggle to get light for their studies. I also charge my phones in the house freely unlike before when I had to pay a fee for charging my phone."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received money from GiveDirectly because I live in a big beautiful house which I could not afford to build on my own since I had an unreliable source of income and could not save enough to build a better one. I am now proud of my house and can easily welcome guests unlike in the past when I was so ashamed of my house and could not easily welcome visitors."

"My daily life is now different from how it was since I now own a cow. I believe that in the coming months, I will not be overworking myself as I will be having an alternative source of income since I will be selling some milk from this cow. This will make it easy for me to pay my childrens school fees on time."

"I had been anxiously waiting for the money from the first day of that month since I was informed during the enrolment process that I would receive them on that month. On that particular morning, I had woken up so early so that I could go around in search of any work to do. When I check my phone to know what time it was, I realized that I had an unread message. My heart was filled with happiness after reading the message as it confirmed to me that I had received the money I had been waiting for. I then prayed to thank God for His blessings upon my family on that day."

"I expect my life to change a lot in the next six months. This is because I look forward to starting a business of selling clothes in a nearby market. Subsequently, I will gain more income for using in improving my living standard. I will rely primarily on the revenue from my poultry farming, my casual work of teaching and the GD transfers to raise the startup funds. Moreover, I trust that with the increased income from the new business, I will afford to buy my own piece of land and settle (maybe later on)."
