"I hope that in six months' time, I will have a completed the new house so that I can focus on opening my own barbershop. I am currently employed and it is not an easy task because I have to split part of my daily earnings with the shop owner. This is the main reason why I desperately need to have my own shop so that even when I make little money,I will not have to share."

"I used to sell sisal fibre in the past but I stopped due to poor health. Currently I depend on subsistence farming which is also unreliable due to poor rainfall patterns and unproductive land. This means that meeting basic needs for the family is such a big challenge and sometimes we even go without food. My husband who could be of help is too weak to work due to old age thus reducing me to the sole breadwinner. I can therefore say financial instability is my biggest hardship."

"I used my most recent transfer to expand my business. I decided on this because when I received my first transfer, I started a new business where I sell second hand clothes. I expanded this business since the initial capital was small and I have been earning little income from the business. I restocked my business with a variety of clothes and I will therefore get more customers hence more income. I will therefore be able to meet my personal needs and pay school fees for my siblings without any problem. I also used part of transfers to pay school fees for my sister who was joining secondary school. This was because I received my transfers at time when she was suppose to go to school and my parents was not able to raise all the school fees required. I also used my transfers to buy food which will last for two months. I will thus be able to save the money I would have otherwise used to buy food and use to meet other basic needs for my siblings."

"When I started receiving the money, I was so happy since I knew that I will be able to start a new business. In the past I used to sell second hand clothes but the business collapsed since it was the only source of income and I used all the money from the business to provide for my family. I thank God for Give Directly since I can now use my transfers to start a new business."
