"I hope that in the next six months, we will be proud livestock owners as we hope to buy some soon. I also know that having completed the payment of our daughter's school fees will give us the opportunity to spend the rest of our transfers on other household items such as decent chairs that will definitely make our house more beautiful."

"My first priority is to use the money from Give Directly to open a business of selling kerosene. Finding second hand kerosene pumps is easier within Mathare. In my area of residence which is Mlango Kubwa, kerosene business is thriving since most households use kerosene. Having a pump will enable me sell kerosene in a larger scale and cover a larger market compared to those who don't have pumps. It is also a faster means when I compare it to using tins to weigh kerosene.
Secondly I will use the money from Give Directly to invest in my mother's health bills. She stays within Mathare and has been ailing for a while from high blood pressure. She requires money to be treated each time and paying for her medical bills will bring me joy.
Thirdly I want to gain some skills on hairdressing. I will either go to a hairdressing school or go for local classes from one of my mentors who owns a salon within Mathare and teaches people. Later on I will use my skills to create employment for myself by providing hairdressing services."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of farm land.
The food that is produced is usually not enough to take care of the household needs.
This forces me to do casual labour in order to find food for the family. "

"Receiving this money is an opportunity for me to acquire descent accommodation. Apparently the house I have is the same house I share with my wife and children and this house is so small to comfortably accommodate all of us. I will build a 2 bedroomed ironsheets house that withstands all weather conditions and if there is any balance, It will be used to sustain the family in terms of feeding, medical care and other basic needs."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to start up a poultry farm.
It is one thing that I have always longed to do yet I don't have starting capital.
At my age, I can not do garden work but I believe I can manage a poultry farm.
With this, I can be in position to sell off some eggs in order to raise some money with which I can take care of my personal needs."

"The biggest hardship I face is poverty. Iam such a very poor person since I mainly depend on casual labour. This is never paying well, because the little money I get is all spent on feeding leaving out other basic needs."
