"Lack of a reliable source of income in order to meet family needs is my biggest challenge. The main source of income to my household is farming which at times is not reliable due to drought or floods leaving the household with no alternative source. "

"Currently the woman I'm staying with as a spouse is not officially married to me. We have been courtshipping for 2 years and even got children. So, when I receive this money, I will use part of it as dowry to go and appreciate her parents so that other matrimonial arrangements can go forward. I will also use the other part of the money to rent agricultural land because currently we are doing agriculture on a small scale. This will give us higher yields that we shall use as food and also sell some so that we can have some income to sustain the household."

"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will be a proud owner of a dairy cow. With this, I will be assured of a source of income after GiveDirectly will have stopped sending us the financial aid after the years they had promised us. I will have also harvested and stored my beans as I will be waiting till next year so that I can sell them when the demand is high."

"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have connected a solar in my house. This will enhance our security as my compound will be well lit at night. My family will also be feeding well as I will be using part of my transfers to employ some workers to help me with the farm work."

"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have started buying building materials. I believe that I will have bought sand soil, gravel and bricks. I will be using my monthly transfers to achieve this. I have already started saving my monthly income and I believe by the time six months elapse I will have accumulated a good amount of money. I am very committed to building this house because I have suffered for a long time living in my current house. I thank Give Directly for coming through and giving me hope of living a good life"

David
received a $520 second payment.
"I finally managed to build a house through the money I got from Give Directly. This wouldn't possible to build any time soon since I couldn't afford to raise money for constructing a house. Apart from that, I am happy that I was able to pay school fees for my child who is secondary school. My child had been sent home for school fees because I did not have a reliable source of income to enable me to pay his school fees. He had stayed home for two weeks and I was afraid he would perform poorly because he had missed several lessons. I thank God I finally managed to clear his fee balance and he can now study without being interrupted."

Kiprotich
received a $520 second payment.
"The greatest difference in my life ever since Give Directly came into my life is that I now have livestock which I didn't have previously. They are the biggest assets I have acquired ever since I was born. I didn't have hopes of acquiring them any time soon but thanks to Give Directly for giving me the means to buy them. I want to take good care of them and ensure they reproduce and fill my cowshed."
