The greatest difference in my life ever since Give Directly came into my life is that I now have livestock which I didn't have previously. They are the biggest assets I have acquired ever since I was born. I didn't have hopes of acquiring them any time soon but thanks to Give Directly for giving me the means to buy them. I want to take good care of them and ensure they reproduce and fill my cowshed.

The biggest difference about Give Directly and other organization is that they are transparent and honest. They were able to deliver the exact amount they had promised. There were no biasness during the selection of the beneficiaries. Their way of operation is also unique and most of the residents of this village benefited from the project. According to me, there is nothing wrong that the organization is doing.

I spent KES 35000 to buy a cow and KES 14000 to buy six goats. I decided to buy these animals because they add value. They reproduce over a short period of time. They are also on high demand just in our local market. This means I can always sell their offspring when met with an emergency. Apart from buying the cow and goats, I also bought their feeds that will sustain them for a while. This will ensure they are healthy and produces quality milk which will definitely attract many customers.

The biggest difference in my daily life is the cow that I currently own. Even though I don't milk it at the moment, I see it as an asset and it gives me hope for a better future since I will be able to produce my own milk for both sale and family consumption. The growing daily basic needs of my family has been so hard and costly for me to meet thus I believe the income I'll earn from the milk sales will help me meet the family needs.

It was early in the morning when I was awoken by a message notification in my phone. At first, I ignored it but I felt sleepless hence I decided to check it. I was happily surprised to see it was Mpesa message from GiveDirectly. I was filled with joy and I immediately woke up my wife to share the good news and she was so happy too. We didn't sleep anymore, my wife went ahead to prepare family breakfast and after taking it I proceeded to withdraw the money as early as 7.00 am.

I used part of my transfer to buy a cow. It has always been my goal to own a cow. It has been so hard and costly for me to get milk for my young children. The casual job and farming income that I usually get has been too little for my family's daily basic needs hence I would never save any for other goals like purchasing a cow. I spent part of the transfer on my household furniture and other basic items. I was lucky that I had built a house before but due to the little income, I had not been able to acquire enough furniture and household items hence making our family life uncomfortable. I also spent part of the money on my family basic needs mainly food and clothing.
