"In the next four months, I wish to buy more cows which I will use in paying dowry for my wife. I have never paid dowry for my wife whom I got married to three years ago. This is very shameful and would want to handle this issue once and for all."

Kang'ombe
received a $518 second payment.
"Having a dairy cow is the biggest difference I ever achieved so far. Owning a cow means a lot in this village. Most of the people who own cows are the well off households and I can't imagine I am now one of them. I feel lucky and blessed because with this cow I will never lack anything. First I will be getting milk for my family consumption and this will make my family healthier. Secondly, I will be selling part of the milk to my neighbors which will earn me income. I give my special thanks to this organization for coming to my village. I had almost lost hope in life."

Esther
received a $536 second payment.
"Having a dairy cow is the biggest achievement I have acquired so far. I have been buying milk from my neighbors but now I am assured of getting milk for free. This will be a surplus for my daily meal and I believe I will become healthier. Apart from that, I am planning to sell a few liters that will earn me a lot of money since milk is scarce in this area. This will enable me to meet my family basic needs without any difficulties."

Sophia
received a $249 second payment.
"With the farm that I had leased using part of the second transfers, I hope that we will have a better harvest this season and get relief from always having to spend on maize which is our staple food. We have a very small portion of land that usually produces very little maize that mostly sustains us for just a few months before we start buying, but this season, I know will have enough to last us a year."

"I bought a few chickens with part of the first transfer and my hope is that they will have multiplied in the next six months so that I can be able to sell off some of them or the eggs they produce for my daily sustenance in school. Being a full-time student, it is very hard for me to engage in any income generating activity and I mostly have to rely on my parent for my financial needs. Having this project gives me hope of having a backup plan especially when they are unable to provide."
