"Financial constraint is my biggest hardship and it has resulted to so much suffering in my family. This is attributed to the fact that I am a housewife and my spouse lacks a stable job. This means providing for the family is such a hustle and in most cases we lack basic needs. The most pressing one is school fees which has seen my eldest sons missing secondary education and are now working as casual labourers."

"Providing capital to my daughter to start vending vegetables, educating my grandchildren and buying livestock is what receiving this money means to me. Being a widow with no reliable source of income, I majorly depend on my daughter who is selling coconut wine in order to provide our basic needs. Her income is very low such that, it cannot fully sustain us. The aid from GiveDirectly will change our life for the better, since I plan to give my daughter, half of the first transfer to start selling vegetables. The other remaining transfer will support me in buying livestock and supporting my grandchildren's education. Therefore, this is basically what receiving this money means to me."

"Receiving this money means expanding my small business of selling fried fish. I will make a wooden box for storing them and sell them along Mariakani-Bamba road where there is a wider market. I will also increase my stock because demand will be much higher. With the rest of the cash, I will purchase oxen and an ox plough to upscale my farming. Due to current water shortage, I will also buy a bicycle to assist in ferrying water since we now fetch it from very far places. "

"Receiving this money means I will be able to cater for my family's daily upkeep without having to rely much on my husband so that he can concentrate on more pressing needs such as school fees. I will purchase indigenous dairy cows whose milk I will sell in order to earn some income to buy food and water. I will also buy iron sheets for our house to replace the old ones that leak so much during rainy seasons. "

"The biggest headship I face is lack of oxen and ox-plough for ploughing. Iam relying on other people's oxen every cropping season, so I get second chance since the owners have to start ploughing first. This is affecting my crop production since I delay planting each season hence low crop out put. Iam therefore producing what is not enough to sustain the demands of my family members."

"The greatest difference in my life ever since I started receiving transfers from Give Directly is that I was able to pay school fees with ease. Initially, I was thinking of calling for a fund drive or even borrowing from friends. We had sold some of our valuable assets because we urgently needed to pay school fees for our children yet we did not have stable jobs. While we were wondering what next Give Directly came to our village and chose me as one of the beneficiaries. I am among those people who were greatly relieved. I am really hopeful to regain some of the assets I had sold out"
