"A decent house for my family is what receiving this money means to me. Currently, My house is small, leaking and can not fully accommodate us. I am planning to spend $ 200 on purchasing iron sheets and poles in order to construct a respectable house. This will restore the happiness that I have lost for long. I am also planning to use the remaining amount in purchasing oxen to help me in tilling my farm especially at this time when we are experiencing the long rains."

"Suffering from backbone problems and failure to acquire proper medication due to inadequate finances has been the biggest challenge in my life. This problem has forced me to depend on my children who are doing casual labour because I am unable to work. Their income is 2 dollars per day which is hard to fully sustain our family's basic needs like food not to mention paying their own fees arrears and taking me to hospital. "

"The biggest hardship I am facing is lack of enough money to pay for children their education. Money for scholastic materials and other requirements sometimes is not there and the school administration usually chase my children back home."

"When I receive this money,I will buy one dairy cow. This will cost me Ksh 20,000(200 USD).The milk that I will get will serve as a source of income as well as milk for consumption.I currently buy one cup of milk per day(0.2 USD).Owning my own cow will therefore reduce my expenses. My second plan is finishing the construction of my house which is half way done. This includes buying furniture. When the house is done I can proudly host visitors."

"My education journey has been one with a lot of hardships. This is because of lack of school fees.My father did not support me while my mother feel sick and could not do any farm work whereas we depended on farming.I grew up in a polygamous setup and that's the reason my father did not support my education.I was always in and out of school since I had to do casual jobs to raise my school fees.I dropped out of primary school for one year so that I could look for money to pay school fees and register for my final examinations.I also dropped out of secondary school several times to raise money for school fees.I did jobs like looking after cattle.I once worked at a tea plantation for two years when I was halfway through my secondary studies.I came back to complete the two years remaining of my secondary in 2016.By the time I was completing my secondary school studies I was 25 years old.I should have completed at 18 years it were not for the school fees issues. My dream was joining college to study further but this has not been possible.I am now a farmer but I am glad I was at least able to gain knowledge to do and manage my own work wisely."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that the transfer has enabled me to clear school fees for my three children who are in high school. I have been struggling to raise enough money for their education, considering that I do not have a stable source income. I thank GiveDirectly for helping me pay the fee in advance. To me, the biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have enough time to prepare and look fees for next year."
