"As a farmer, my biggest desire is to have a maximum output every season. I have invested heavily in cassava, maize, and vegetables but due to unpredictable climatic conditions, some times it is difficult to attain desired yields and the problem always comes when one does not have proper means of cultivation. Most people here rely on oxen for ploughing and since this resource is limited, it often leads to untimely planting and subsequently poor yields every year. Therefore, receiving this money will bring that situation to an end. I intend to purchase oxen and this will earn me the freedom to maximize my skills in farming."

"Being self-reliant is what I've been yearning to achieve ever since my husband died 2 years ago. And because he was our sole breadwinner, coming to terms with the situation has not been easy given that I've 6 children who need educational support, food and better shelter yet I do not have any source of income. Receiving this money, therefore, means improved wellbeing for my household. First I will ensure we have enough food supplies from our farm by improving on farming techniques. I will purchase oxen and its plow to facilitate easy and timely cultivation. Again I intend to construct a better house because the one we are currently living in is in a deplorable state - walls are caving in, and the roof is leaking already and in most cases, we are forced to seek alternative places to sleep whenever it rains at night, something that has continuously rob our dignity."

"Depending on farming has been a challenge for me for many years. We only depend on maize farming in this area which has not been doing well for years. This is mainly due to crop diseases.During the dry season we go through the hardship of getting food because what we harvest does not sustain us for a longer period. We also lack clean water because we mainly depend on water pans which is not safe for drinking. At my age depending on farming is becoming more difficult because I do not have enough energy like before to do farm work. This has limited my income even further."

"I spend most of the time around my home and therefore investing in livestock farming seems fit for me.When I receive this money I will buy a dairy cow(300 USD) and 3 sheep(120 USD).I have two cows and adding one more translates to an increase in milk production. This will go a long way in helping me satisfy the family's basic needs. The sheep will help me pay school fees for my children. They multiply very fast.I have one child in the university and another in secondary school.School fees has been a heavy burden since I mainly depend on subsistence farming which does not earn me much. "Lack of capital to fulfil my desire of having a reliable source of income for my family has been my biggest hardship in my life. This has forced me to depend on my husband's income which is hardly enough to meet the needs of my family. The realization of the transfer we are about to receive has restored my joy in life since I am planning to spend them wisely."

"I sold all my cows when three of my children were in the University.Since then I have not been able to buy another because one is still in college and still requires fees. When I receive the first transfer,I will buy a dairy cow at 300 USD.This will provide me an income through milk.I will also buy household items with the remainder from my first transfer. When I get the second transfer,I intend to buy a water tank to store water in.Currently i fetch from a communal water pan and this water is often unsafe to household uses."
