"The house that I constructed with the financial help from GiveDirectly has made my life to be so different. This is because initially, I was sleeping in a semi-permanent house which was very small. It could not fit all my family member, some used to stay at my relatives which I was not comfortable with. Some of my properties were also stolen most of the time because there was no enough security. Secondly, some of my properties were destroyed by some rodents such as mice. It is now a relief to me because I am living with all my family members, all my properties are well secured and they are no longer destroyed. I don't think if I would have achieved all these if it were not for GD coming to my village."

"My life is different from how it was because as a family, we have our own asset. We bought a dairy cow using the transfer and today, we have started getting income through selling milk. The planting season was also good this time because we had the money to buy farm inputs and hire labor."

"Receiving this money means starting livestock keeping. My desire has been to have 2 ingenious dairy cows, but due to financial challenges this dream has never come true. I am planning to spend $ 400 of the money to purchase them. This will be a long term investment because I will able to sell them when they multiply and educate my child who is still in class 4. I am planning to spend the extra $ 700 dollars to construct a spacious house that can accommodate me together with my child who is currently dozing in my neighbours compound."

"My life is different from how it was in that, I was able to buy a dairy cow and pay school fees for my two children who joined high school. I could have sold my cow to see them through high school but the transfer came in handy. My gratitude goes to them."

Danal
received a $515 second payment.
"My life is different from how it was in that, some of my long term goals were achieved. Before then, I was staying at my grandmother's house. Today I have my house and managed to buy a cow too. The cow is an asset that I can cling on in times of need. If it were not for GiveDirectly, maybe I could still be living at my grandmother's house."

"My biggest hardship is poor health which has made me unable to work productively. This is characterized by acute asthma and severe chest pains which attacked me over 10 years ago. I believe this condition was caused by my job of mining bricks because I inhaled excess dust and it is labour intensive. Currently, I depend on subsistence farming and I really suffer financial crisis because I have a family to fend for. Maybe my wife could have helped but she is no more."
