"I am so happy since the transfers empowered me to buy a pair of oxen which is now my dependable living assets. As a farmer, I have always been longing to own them but due to the poverty life that stricken my household I could not afford it. Therefore I was always using my hands in ploughing and I was getting some low harvests because I could not utilize the whole farm. Currently, I am positive that I will be getting plenty of harvests because the bulls can take fewer days in ploughing so many acres. I will also be hiring them to my neighbors at a fee and generate an income. Therefore owning the pair of oxen makes my life different"

"For a long time, I have been willing to rear livestock in my compound but because of the financial difficulties, I could not afford it. I am so glad now because GD actualized my dream because I managed to purchase cows, goats, and sheep. Some years back, I used to own some livestock but I had to sell them in order to clear school fees for my children. I am now honored because I am back in my original status. And I feel this brings the difference in my life."

"Before the coming of GiveDirectly, I was sheltering in a small house which was temporary. During the rainy seasons, I used to be rained on and I had to seek shelter from neighbors. Thus after receiving my transfer, I decided to renovate it and it's now iron roofed and spacious and it can now accommodate all my family members. Courtesy of GiveDirectly."

"My life is different currently because I am sleeping in a decent house. Before the coming of GiveDirectly came into my life, I used to sleep in a small hut which was temporary. It was always leaking during the rainy seasons and I was always seeking shelter from neighbors. I really had the desire to construct a decent one but I did not have the money to buy the required materials. I am now a happy soul because I managed to build a decent spacious iron-roofed house from the transfers and this makes the biggest difference in my life. Courtesy of GD."

"The fact that I now have a pair of oxen and the two heifers makes the difference in my life. In the next few months, I will be getting some milk for my family consumption an this will be a supplement to their daily meals making them healthier. I will definitely save the money that I have been using to buy the milk from neighbors. Also with the remaining few liters, I will sell them to the local market ad generate an income. In addition to that, the oxen will majorly help me on my farm since I have always been hiring time of my neighbors which were very costly. It is now a relief to me considering my old age."

"The dairy cows that I now own have mad my life to be different. This is because currently, they have started reproducing milk which I have started a business of supplying the milk to the local markest daily. This has made me able to provide for my family basic needs with ease unlike before. Also, I am having the remaining amount of money from the business to start some other projects like opening a kiosk. And I believe this will uplift my living standard at a high rate."

"Currently, I am having my own house which I constructed from the transfers. It has been my desire for so long to construct one but I did not have the money to purchase the required materials. Therefore I was forced to stay in the small hut with my family. During the winter seasons, I used to seek shelter from relatives, and sometimes I felt embarrassed. I am now a happy mother because the house can fit all my family members and I no longer worry about the rains."

"Before the coming of GiveDiretly, my life has been so miserable. This was brought about by the condition of my house, it was in a poor condition and also collapsing. I had to seek shelter from my relatives and especially during the rainy seasons. Also, some of my properties would get damaged and this made to be unhappy always. Currently, everything has transformed because I managed to renovate it and it's in good condition now. And this brings the difference in my life."

"Presently, life is so different from how it use to be before we receive transfers from Give Directly. After we lost our mother, our father abandoned us and went to live with his second wife. As the eldest son in the family, I was left with task to provide for my siblings. Lucky enough I had completed my high school and now I would seek casual jobs so that I would raise money to feed them and take them to school. When Give Directly came, I was enrolled so that I would receive the transfers to support my family. After I received the first transfers I purchased building materials and build a good house made of iron sheets. The house which we had was mad wall house with grass touched roof. The roof was rotting and it was leaking. I decided to put up a better house which we have moved in and we are happy as a family for the good shelter. Again, I bought a lactating dairy cow which gives us milk. We now have milk for consumption at home as before I wouldn't afford to buy milk for use on a daily basis due to unreliable income. The second transfers which I received, I saved KES 51000 so that I would spend on paying my school fees once I join college. I intend to pursue an electrical engineering course and with the money which I got can cater to my school for the whole course. I believe after I graduate, I will have a better chance to secure a job which would enable me to earn some income to support my siblings."
