"Receiving this means I will be able to buy enough food for my family as I did not harvest enough due to cyclone Idai and this affected my yields. I have also always wanted to buy a big mattress and bed so that I sleep comfortably since I have been sleeping on a floor with a mosquito net as a bed."

"I received a message on my phone early in the morning. Since I could not comprehend the message, I called my helper who confirmed that I had received my first transfer. I was overwhelmed with happiness and treated my family with a nice meal as a celebration for the financial help."

"I have been spending lots of energy and time collecting soil for smearing our mud-walled house. As such, receiving this money means that we shall lead a better lifestyle. First, we shall plaster our house to avoid the tedious task of smearing it. Consequently, we shall be living in a cleaner and more decent house. Also, I will have more time for handling my farming activities."

"The biggest hardship that I have faced in my life is when I lost my parents at an early age. Most of my relatives did not want to stay with me claiming that my parents died of HIV virus. This led to a lot of stigmatising on me since I was the youngest which made me feel so bad. I thank God that I have been able to outgrow my challenges to become the person I am today."

"Payment of school fees has been my biggest hardship. I have one child who is in college level and I have to raise 26,000 shillings yearly and also other necessities like accomodations fee. We were still using retirement benefits of my spouse to educated them but it got depleted 5 years ago. I have been reduced to do casual jobs in the village to raise these huge amounts."

"I have been dreaming of purchasing a piece of land of my own of around 70,000 shillings. Currently, I am still at my parent's land. We have around 4-acre piece of land to be shared amongst 5 siblings and mostly according to our tradition ladies are excluded. The remaining amount I will use to purchase a dairy cow. At the moment, I am forced to buy 3 liters of milk and it is quite expensive because I spend 50 shillings per liter every single day."

received a $494 initial payment.
"The transfer has greatly helped me to provide adequately for my family. I am a single mother and providing for my family has not been easy. The little income from menial jobs is not enough to take care of my family's basic needs like food. When I received this transfer, I did enough shopping on foodstuffs that can take us for a whole month. I also spent part of the transfer on my son's medication. He was suffering from a pancreatic disorder. I also bought some iron sheets to build a house for my children. They are currently sheltering in their friends' house at night since my living house is not spacious to accommodate them. I am planning to buy the remaining materials to build a house for them."
