"The biggest differnce in my daily life is that I now have enough foodstuffs in my household. Before GiveDirectly came into our lives we were malnourished because we we could not afford a proper meal. We could at times sleep hungry or take a single meal in a day. I am now a happy parent because my children can at least take two meals a day and they are becoming healthy day by day."

"I am so grateful to God and this organkzation for being selected to be part of this program. I lost my husband a few years ago and since his death I've struggled to raise our children and grandchildren I'm also old and frail and don't have the same energy I used to and this money will help me improve our livelihoods and pay for school fees and maintain the home. We sleep on the floor and don't have enough beddings for everyone and receiving this money will greatly change our life. It will give us a luxury of opportunities we didn't have"

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I managed to buy a secondhand motorbike purpsly for business. I opted to buy it because my spouse is a qualified driver and he was employed by a firm d and paid on commission. The money was too little to cater to the family's daily needs. I was also depending on casual jobs which still could not sustain the needs. We are now glad as a family because the money that my spouse will be getting from the business will all be ours. This is promising that our lives will never be the same again. I am so grateful because I now have two sources of income from casual jobs and from the business. I am positive that I will no longer strain in meeting the family's needs like before."

"It was around 7:30 AM when I was preparing myself for the day when I got a message notification from my mobile phone. I was a bit nervous when wanted to know who would have sent me a message at that time of the day. Upon checking,g I realized it was an Mpesa message from GiveDirectly. I was overwhelmed with joy and knew my long time goals are now achievable."

"So far the biggest hardship has been smoothly running this business I'm saying this because this is the only source of money that we have, and sometimes we find ourselves in a situation that we literally have nothing to eat and we end up using the money meant to order the grocery things this always drag the business down."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am living in a permanent house. Previously my house was in a poor state and I did not have any hopes of sleeping under a permanent house anytime soon. This is because of the poverty life that had stricken my household. The money that I was I was earning from the casual jibs was barely enough for the basic necessities, leave alone saving up to build a permanent house. The house has a leaky roof and holes were all over the walls and it was really tough especially during the winter seasons. I am now happy together with my family since we are currently sleeping under a spacious permanent house."

"Having have renovated my pit latrine makes the biggest difference in my life. Some days back, I managed to construct a temporary pit whereby we could help ourselves, but then it very risky. Because the pit was very deep and it was not well constructed from above. Due to that, we had to use those of my neighbors and sometimes would help themselves in the bushes which were unhealthy because sometimes they were attacked by some water-born diseases such as cholera. I am now happy because the financial support empowered me to renovate my own latrine and we longer use our friends or the bushes. This has really reduced the high chance of being attacked with the communicable disease."
