"I was blessed with 9 beautiful children, 3 of them did their K.C.P.E ( Kenya certificate of primary education) back in the year 2019, but due to financial instability, I could not take them to secondary school. Though they passed exams, they did not get any scholarships because competition was very high. Receiving this money means good education to my children. I am planning to spend 80,000 shillings to pay school fees for the 3 of them, this is for a whole year so that they can start learning. I will invest the remaining amount on business (buying and selling goats) in our rural areas. In each goat I can make a profit of 1000 which I can save 70% of it for my children future education. I hope that they will pass with flying colours and later be employed and support the rest of the family in future."

"This is the happiest day of my life, and having a once in a lifetime opportunity to become a recipient of such a windfall is a dream come true. My husband and I have agreed to spend the money to buy furniture for our empty house. This will bring to an end the shame and guilt and shame of not wanting to host any guests in our home. Buying 3 comfortable sofa seats and 2 tables will cost about $75. Since we haven't had a decent meal in a while, we will use $46 to buy 2 sacks of maize for consumption. This is what receiving this money means to me."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in life is deteriorating health. I have been seeking medication for my throat which is worsening each passing day yet there has been no solution coming from it. I have used all my savings at the expense of my medication. This is something that has given me sleepless nights and I hope to get medication soon. I am grateful for Give Directly for coming in at the time of need."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought building materials and started building a shop. I operate a motorcycle taxi business and the money that I get through this business is so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of my family. I was not in a position to save some money to buy the materials for building. I have always had an idea of building a shop. When I received the second transfer from GiveDirectly I felt so happy because this was my dream come true. I have bought the materials and already work is on progress. I am also in a position to pay workers who are doing the construction. I have a plan of starting a business of selling good and services soon when the construction is done. This will earn me an extra income to meet those basic household needs and the extra profit I will save to build more houses in the future. I am so grateful for the support from GiveDirectly because it has enable my dream to come true."
